Got a physical copy of the flyer for tomorrow in store. Spend $100 Get 100 AM is back already

The best deals this week I could see were:

Colgate Total Toothpaste various sizes for $2.22 each and Colgate Toothbrushes for $2.22 each. These items are buy 5 get 50 Airmiles. Use the recent $1 insert coupons to cut the cost to $1.22 (exact match on the toothpaste for sure, not sure on the toothbrushes if the variety matches). Net off the 10 airmiles per item worth $1 and cost is less than a quarter.

If you qualify for the 100 Airmile bonus plus base plus earned on credit card against the $1.22 OOP cost you save at least another 10-15 cents or so per tube.

Crest Complete on 5 for $5 ($1 a tube) less the recent insert coupon for $0.50 is net 50 cents plus tax. Again apply the 100 AM Bonus and base offer and your net cost is 5 cents or so less. Not as good an over all deal as the Colgate but less cash out of pocket and worth buying I think if you are building a stockpile or prefer Crest.

    Good day to all.

I have lurked and learned for quite some time now, but thought I should post a "Thank you" to OperaBob for all of his useful information posted over the years and ongoing commitment to the currency known as Airmiles.

Also a thanks to emax for the spreadsheets that addressed the e-auction items, and the ongoing Safeway specials. They were invaluable in my successful bid for the trip to Mexico - yay!

So - Thank you to everyone in this forum community from someone who typically does not post, but is much more successful in Airmiles collection and usage than without this valuable advice.

    Hello Everyone!

I have been watching this forum for sometime, and been a HUGE fan of the airmiles deals at Safeway for the past 5-8 years. My old man got me hooked as a teenager, and now with a young growing family of my own I simply can't resist!

Really appreciate everyone's willingness to share their knowledge and help the community in general identify the real winners.

Although I always get a good haul of Airmiles when I go to safeway, I have NEVER EVER used a coupon. My wife started collecting coupons a few months ago, but she also has no idea how to actually use them... or where to really get them from in the first place.

Below is just one example. In JadeDragons post she mentions a bunch of deals that seem amazing. She mentions "Use the recent $1 insert coupons" ... what coupons!? Even if I did have one insert, wouldn't I only have 1 coupon and only be able to save $1.00 once? The same applies to her mention of the .50 coupon. I'm a quick learner so if someone can point me in the right direction I'm sure I'll pick up on this quickly.

Thanks in advance - you guys/gals are great!

Insert coupons come from the inside of a newpaper(usually Saturdays) If you buy 5 tubes of toothpaste you can use 5-$1 coupons(one for each product)--Just spend a couple hours reading different areas on this forun and you'll catch on pretty quick!!!!

There is a Coupon link above.

    You can also register for:

    websaver.ca
    save.ca
    gocoupons.ca
    .ca

For websaver & save Google "Hidden Portals" to get coupons not showing.

Look for tear pads in the stores and on product boxes, etc.

For the toothpaste try at a dentist as they often have tear pads for this product.

Finally, I think you're father is very wise steering you to coupons because they are actually worth double the face value. A $1 coupon is really worth $2. Why?

Because if you paid cash you'd have to earn $2 before taxes to have the $1 cash towards the product.

I think many of us were brought up by the same kind of parents. Those who valued things like prudence and thrift. Heck, even the words themselves sound old-fashioned, but hopefully our society is starting to rediscover these values.

Something else my father taught me is not to be "penny wise but pound foolish". Meaning, don't hyper-focus on managing your pennies and lose sight of managing the dollars - those big expenditures that represent 80-90% of your opportunity to save.

For most people these days that would be income tax, housing costs, transportation, food and clothing. So, yes definitely look into couponing to save $ on your groceries, but don't go overboard (spending an extra hour to save 50c isn't worth it) and don't forget to spend time tightening up those other big expenses in your life. If you can spend a few hours and save $1000s on your taxes that's worth a lot of 50c coupons. Cut back on your automobile use and save lots of $ on gas (+ help the environment). Etc.

Also, couponing can take on an OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) flavour if you're not careful. Don't make coupons a primary goal in themselves (same advice as collecting Airmiles) otherwise you might end up buying things you shouldn't, products you don't use just because they're discounted, or wasting money in the end with too much hoarding and spoilage.

Having said that, these days you can collect and use coupons with very little time or effort. Threads like this one and those websites OB mentioned make it easier than ever to find out where the discounts are. So thanks everyone!
