It's also weird the way they show the GST.

    5% on 23.98 = $1.20 (but they show $1.08)
    5% on 11.98 = $0.60 (as shown)

I was thinking they show two 5% items differentiating between the full price and the discounted and then adding 0.40 + 0.08 + 0.60 to get the $1.08 show but the 5% figure is wrong.

At the same time $0.08 recycling fee seems small (but I don't know what it should be normally).

And of course as MzStell noted.

The major problem is the 2 GST lines. The line with 0.60 is correct - 5% of the cost of the item $11.98 plus the recycling fee $0.08 (these items are GST taxable as indicated by the G on the lines). The GST line of $1.08 does not make any sense at all.. and can't be calculated with 5% (or even 7% if it were meant for PST - there's no PST applicable at all here).

As for the 6 items sold line - I was wondering about that - but figured it was calculated based on - 2 items, 2 deposits, 2 recycling fees.

When Toilet Paper is the featured coupon, it tells you it's not a great week for coupons (although the first one seems be hooked up to an AM deal on the front page)

Yeah, as a front page B2G50 if you can use the $1 coupon on both (I can't read the small print) and have $1 coupons from GoCoupons (apparently there are $2 around too) it becomes:

    B2G50 $3.99/$1.36

    Not bad!

On 10% Tuesday, if you apply it before the coupons it becomes:

    $3.39/$0.76

Don't feel bad, OB, it's not just AM's that are sharpening their pencils against us, so to speak...

"...This is one of those seismic changes that comes along in the world of customer loyalty programs every few years and prompts a couple of basic questions: What is the nature of this game that so many of us are playing? What does it mean to win now? And is it time to quit?"

    Veg,

As we see now the Canadian banks have jumped in in a big way with travel credit cards. These are not Loyalty programs but rather a percentage kick back that can be used as cash on any airline/hotel (or other rewards but at less value). At the moment I assume you can double dip if you use the credit card to book an airline that has a loyalty program. However, I can see the possibility that the bank cards become so popular less people will register for airline loyalty programs leading to possible demise or all the airlines doing things like the Alaska Airlines credit card. Heck, even Princess Cruises offers a credit card with kick back rewards.
