I just sent an email to Air Miles because I was missing 25 points from January at Metro and 1 point from using AirMiles shops in February. They have already put the 25 airmiles into my account, not one hour later, no questions asked, no request for a receipt. I am waiting for the second air mile from Air Miles Shops.

Is this typical? I've never had such a quick addition, especially seeing it's Sunday. Also, the transaction was a bit screwy to begin with, they offered 25 miles if you buy 3 packages of Tassimo coffee but they didn't show up so I had to go to the CS desk and get it reversed and fixed again.

Edit: They just added the 1 from Indigo!

Bob, I don't think so. One was from Metro, the other from Indigo via Air Miles Shops. I put in a third request because I didn't get the base point from Metro and it was added within minutes. Both purchases were a month apart and they were added in as missing miles, not under the names of the stores.

What is the magnitude of the change?
The average increase in the number of reward miles required to be redeemed for flights within Canada, to the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), to Mexico will be 16%. Some destinations will see a smaller increase, while others will see a larger increase. For example:
•A round-trip flight, in Low season, will now start at 1,200 reward miles (instead of starting from 950 reward miles)
•A flight from British Colombia to Los Angeles will increase by 19% in Low season (1600 reward miles to 1900) and 14% in High season (2275 reward miles to 2600).
•A flight from Ontario to New York City will increase by 13% in Low season (1150 reward miles to 1300) and 14% in High season (1400 reward miles to 1600)."

These increased redemption rates may now include the taxes.. it remains to be seen exactly how this will work.

    Ron.

I'm glad I saw this. I'm planning to go away in November but wasn't going to book till later this summer. Looks like I'll be booking before then since 16% is going to be over 300 extra miles.

The extra mines are supposed to cover some taxes so it will interesting to see if you save more money using the bmo gold discount as before you did not get a discount on the taxes.

On their site it says fuel surcharges will be covered on some flights. How much is that, it's usually just a small amount, isn't it? It's not like they are covering anything massive.

Holy cow, I didn't know it was so much. Toronto to Vancouver will likely be a lot so this might actually be a good change.
