I was in New York last week. I had the new flyer before I left. We were running an event yesterday across from the Tillicum shopping mall here in Victoria, BC. The Safeway there is having their grand re-opening after remodelling and adding self-service check outs.

I picked up the flyer and I think it was a seperately produced one as it had a special "grand reopening" heading. It also had some outstanding AirMile specials I'm fairly sure were not in the other flyer.

Things like "Buy 2 Nivea Products at $4.99 each and get 75 AMs".

Essentially you're getting the product free as 75 AMs = $10.50 approx.

If you're using bonus AM coupons, etc. you could make a real killing.

Grand-Reopening continues next week at the Tillicum Shopping Mall. You could load up for a charitable donation on this one if they have other offers for this week. I'm running another event there today so I'll check it out. So if you live in the Victoria, BC area it might be worth checking out.

A couple of interesting items.

Shreddies:

Front cover has 375-725g boxes 3 for $9

Page 7 has the 1240g box @ $6.99 as part of a B5G60AMs special.

Which is the better deal?

Well two 620g boxes = $6 vs. one 1240g box at $6.99

If you don't collect AMs then the small boxes are a better deal.

However, each large box has 12AMs attached (if you buy 5 items).

12AMs = $1.68 which reduces the cost to $5.31 ($6.99 - $1.68)

In this case the 1240g is the better deal.

However, some of you might have the $0.75 Shreddies coupons. They are only good on the small boxes. If you do 2 small boxes are $6 - (2 x $0.75) = $4.50 vs. $5.31 effective price for large.

Small boxes are the better deal if you have coupons.

Premium Plus Crackers:

Part of the same B5G60 offer 900g at $3.99

Effectively, $3.99 - $1.68 = $2.31 each.

I've always bought this one when it comes up.

Purex Toilet Paper: B2G40

Usually this is B2G50 but I'd wait for the Safeway Select to come up again. Last time it was B2G50 @ $5.49 each.

Oil of Olay: 20% off B3G40

If you have the P&G Brandsaver and/or Save.ca coupons this one could be a winner.

PIAZZA'S Pizza: $5.99 each B2G25

Sometimes they have it on for $5.

So 2 x $0.99 extra = $1.98 boost for added AMs

25 AMs = $3.50

So you have about a $1.52 advantage this week.

If you use AMs for items with values above the average $0.14/AM (EG. 2 for 1 movie tickets) you can do really well this week.

I already have next week's flyer which comes in our Friday community newspaper.

Next Tuesday is 10% off Customer Appreciation. I can't find the $35 minimum listed in the flyer so I don't know if they've dropped it.

Regardless, there are a lot of good AirMile specials this week.

One I'm curious about and perhaps some of you know about:

This coming week they have the Buy $50 Get 10 AM & Buy $100 & Get 25 AMs on gift cards again.

I can't find anything in the flyer that says they are not eligible for the 10% off (except the Safeway Gift cards themselves which are never eligible).

If they are buying $100 would cost $90 and you'd pick up $3.50 in AMs so the effective cost is $86.50 which is a 13.5% savings.

Restaurants never have sales really so you'd get a good savings there. Also buying something like a Zeller's/HBC card means you can double dip collecting HBC/Z points as well.

To the people at AirMiles, please when you steal my ideas here would you credit me instead of some phoney person from Saskatchewan or where ever when you repost them on your website! ;-)

Two great deals:

1. The Safeway brand pop 18 tins B2G75

When I looked today they were $4.99 so 2 = $9.98

75 AMs is approx. $10.50.

You've even got part of the bottle deposit covered!

2. B2G40 on 2 "O Organics Mac & Cheese".

I don't know what the price is but check the cashiers first. Many have an "O Organics" pamphlet with a $1 coupon. It's dated ends 31/12/2007 but I've asked 2 managers and they say it's a mistake and are honouring them.

Thanks...but you can't use the coupon on customer appreciation day...it says so in the fine print.
