Hands down nothing smells better than line dried laundry That being said, I say go buy some obnoxious panties - you know the ones with stuff written on the bum (the raunchyier the better LOL) and make sure to hang them facing him

I haven't heard from him since last week. I was away for the weekend though, my parents hung clothing and hadn't had him over to complain. I gave him the prove for allowing to hang clothing outside, so i think he gave up.

The relationship with him [both me and my parents] are okay, we barely talk and never had a single problem since day one, 15 years ago when we moved in when the house was finished building.

    What a jerk.

Maybe call the city yourself and ask them. That way if he threatens to call them again you can tell him you already did after his last visit and he can go pound sand.

Ontarians free to hang clothes in yards

Last Updated: Friday, April 18, 2008 | 12:17 PM ET

If you live in a house in Ontario, no one can stop you from letting your clothes hang out in your own backyard.

But many apartment dwellers will have to keep popping change in the dryer if they can't find a spot in their cramped living rooms and bathrooms to hang their wet clothes.

Restrictions that ban clotheslines in ground-level homes, including those in agreements between home builders and buyers, are no longer in effect, [emphasis mine] Premier Dalton McGuinty announced Friday at a news conference in Toronto.

Jane Almeida, a spokeswoman for the premier's office said the new regulations are retroactive to Thursday at 4 p.m.

However, they don't apply to agreements banning clothelines in apartment buildings and condos due to safety concerns, she told CBCNews.ca.

Energy Minister Gerry Phillips said using a clothesline instead of a dryer will help families save money and reduce the demand for electricity, reducing pollution in the process.

Ontario currently relies on nuclear energy for more than 50 per cent of its power, hydroelectricity for 22 per cent, and burning coal for much of the rest.

The province announced in January that it planned to end clothelines restrictions by the summer.

Be careful what you say here. The Mississauga Stasi may be monitoring your posts.

My cousin lives in Mississauga and he's discovered that if a neighbour takes a dislike to you he can report you to the Bylaw Police and they will come down on you like a ton of bricks. If you try to appeal, there's a non-refundable $450 application fee. He had some weeds and an old garden shed in his backyard, neither of which could be seen by neighbours except from their bedroom windows. There was no polite request or caution, just a knock at the door by the Bylaw Police and a demand to "fix things" up. He was given 12 days to do something about it or the city would come in, do the work and charge him for it. There were also threats of court action.

And you thought you lived in a democracy.

Hey you are saving money, getting fresh smelling clothes so it's his problem not yours. People have too many things to complain about

It really is crazy. We're all expected to do what we can to cut down on our energy usage - lessen our carbon footprint - but we can't hang clothes out which saves the most energy of all? Clothes dryers are an absolute energy hog. Just insane.

For the record though, we can (and do) hang out clothes here, I just find it mind-boggling that people can't in other municipalities.
