I am finding lately a lot of disgruntled cashiers or ones that cannot believe I have all the coupons I do and assume they are all fake. Very frustrating.
I just went to Food Basics on my lunch break and got 3 Secret deodorants for free, 2 shave gels for almost free, Herbal Essense shampoo for .50 off, and a bunch of Mr. Clean products for really cheap. Only thing I bought with no coupon was my goldfish crackers (only because I couldn;t find my coupon).
Anyone else experience this? This thread is currently associated with: Food Basics

Yes, you win some, you lose some. Looks like you did really well,
but had to suffer a little for it from unpleasant cashiers. You've got to develop a thicker skin if you're going to be a coupon-shopper. Just deal with it while you're there, then forget about it when you walk away, and go on from there, and if there's anything to learn from it then chalk it up to more knowledge and experience for the next time.
But I think you have posted in the wrong thread. Try posting in "Brag", or FORUM "Shopping Talk".

It's funny if these smart cashiers were as smart as they think, they should be looking for fake money as it's out there all over Canada, why would someone go to all the trouble of making hundreds of fake coupons,it' so funny to me I wouldn't use coupons if I didn't have to and I sure wouldn't try and pass off fake ones tooooo funny.LOL

That's what kills me! Odds are that at any given moment while some cashier is arguing with me and treating me like a criminal, somewhere in the store, someone is actually stealing something. Oh the irony.
You definitely have a develop a thick skin when couponing because it can be very discouraging to be treated the way you will get treated sometimes. You just have to remember that you'll go home with all your fantastic deals at the end of that day, and that miserable cashier you had will go home miserable, probably to make her husband miserable lol.
I used to be an avid fresh or freer lol, and that was not for the faint of heart lol.

coupon fraud, especially with printables is on the increase; cashiers are told to be diligent in checking coupons.

I'm surprised our thread hasn't been moved yet, but as you can see, we are all trying to give you some encouragement after your trying experience.
(BTW, I've wanted to ask for a long time: Lekate, what are you eating in your avatar picture?)

I don't see where I said that was the cashier's job. I see you tend to get defensive when people post about cashiers because you were one.
How is it a moot point that while we're being treated like criminals there may actually be criminals in the store? Because I threw the word "cashier" in the sentence you seem to have made an incorrect inference. You've "inferred" that my point was that cashiers should be watching for thieves when that wasn't my point at all. You misunderstood my 'argument," no offense. Therefore your point about my point being moot, is in fact ungrounded.

Experienced the 'coupon' suspicious cashier thing many times myself! I think in most cases the cashiers really are trying to do a good job at their job, they are just not properly trained and empowered by their management to make simple decisions. Unless I'm shopping at a new store, I always try to go through tills that have cashiers I recognize. That usually makes getting a deal less frustrating. (though not always *tsk tsk* - It's the cashiers that I know have worked at a store FOREVER, and should get it, but don't get it, that frustrate me personally to no end, the newbies I can forgive!)

You were complaining about a cashier doing their job and implying that they could be on the lookout for real "thieves". No where in your post did you imply that Loss Prevention security is on site (at most major stores, mine had 2 on duty at all times during store hours) looking for these thieves. Many people try to scam cashiers with coupons, I've been there, remember, I was a cashier for 8 years.

So you still want to put words in my mouth! LOL Please don't paraphrase me. What you are saying above isn't remotely close to anything I said. LOL Not even close. That's like me saying "I like pizza." and you saying "What do you mean you hate fish?" What you are extracting from what I said is completely incorrect.

I was in no frills yesterday and had a fpc for the yogurt. The cashier phoned the office to get confirmation about using it. Then later on in the order I HAD THE $1 off the Jakes Bread, the cashier said she didn't think I could use a coupon cause it was on sale. She then went on to phone the office again. The phone was busy. So I waited....and waited. She said it was the rules to phone. But, I hadn't had that happen before. Very frustrating experience for sure. I think the training on the use of coupons could be a little more in depth, as to speed up the process a bit. They don't make the coupons to just pi__ off the cashiers.......as some of them would give that impression. I just purchased a t-shirt today to wear when I am heading out with a bunch of coupons........ " I use coupons to help feed my family. You work here!" Hopefully..... I won't get any grief using them when I wear this.
