Oh. I usually find discussions about news stories interesting. I don't like it when the discussions turn into personal attacks. But I think that can happen in any thread.

I think Sally's suggestion in post#5 for a separate subforum for news and current events is a good idea. Those who want to discuss issues in the news can do so there, and those don't want to don't have to have the Tea Room cluttered by those threads.

While I agree with you that a sub forum should be created, it still says the following:
General Discussion (The Tea Room) Say whatever's on your mind or just pop-in and say hi
Nothing lewd, rude or crude please
With that in mind, more than one thread on the subject was not necessary. Unless there is a valid reason not to post on a subject, it should be allowed.
I don't agree that they "clutter" the Tea Room as it is a wide open forum so unless there is a specific sub forum for the topic, it should not be considered "clutter".

I agree. I love news and current events, and love commenting on the news stories of the day.
By clutter, I meant too much in one subforum. Divide it up into subforums and those who have no interest in the topics of that particular subforum simply don't go there.
I do hope we get a News and Current Events subforum, it's always been a favorite of mine elsewhere. And I think it would increase traffic and bring us all together if we have more to discuss among us. Let's turn this site into where Canadians gather to discuss not only great shopping deals but can also discuss just about everything. And to discuss everything we probably need more than just the tea room.

Geez we used to have to advertise to entice people to come into the Tea Room. Things have changed for the better, I think. More participation and hey in real life heated discussions happen and not much is taboo anymore. I think we have all been pretty good about repsecting each others points and it's rare that things get too ugly. Then again life is ugly and on that note........
Oh and about Paster Jones, still a nutter.

I remember Blooz use to do the same thing as chives with news stories the Boo himself asked repeatedly to ease up on the news stories, so I think that another section would be great imo.

Debates just dont work on Sc. Never have and probably never will. We actually lost one of the best moderators and site helpers Sc ever had because of that section.
Boo tried (again) a while back and it was really ugly.Last edited by Sally888; Mon, Sep 13th, 2010 at 10:07 PM.

Yes, it's all my fault. Let me throw my self on the sword.
Sally I saw some of the old threads Boo used to start. Holy smokes I can understand how they got out of hand (God, abortion, etc) those are firehazards. LOL
