Sometimes I mix tuna or ground beef in. Canned mushrooms work well in there too. A little bit of BBQ sauce mixed in can add a nice kick. On occasions when I didn't have the milk required, I have substituted tomato juice or chicken broth, gives it a different flavor but still good (also lower in fat that way).

I like adding whatever's in the fridge! lol Left overs work well..
Meats like... sausage, hot dogs, bacon, burgers, rib meat, steak, chicken
I like adding extra cheese! The stronger the better.
Tomatoes, green onions, sauteed onions, mushrooms, peppers...
Vairous spices will give it a good kick too! My faves are garlic, pepper, cayenne, dill and dehydrated veg mix.

Instead of milk, I add 1/2 a can of mushroom soup. It's great!

I've added chicken.. but I think that's as adventurous as I get. Or like, if we have KD after a holiday (since everyones so sick of cooking) some turkey.
Previously CanadianBella... I'm baaack!

Chicken would be good, especially if you added some extra cheese. I don't eat it as I'm a Celiac, but my grandkids love it, especially the one I watch for the afternoons after his mornings in school. He's so cute... he's 5. When I picked him up on Friday, his teacher told me she had to give him 2 time outs yep, they had an assembly and seems he was hot so he took of his sweater and was swinging it around, the teacher said she would hold it...nope, not going happen, he made sure then entire assembly heard that it was his sweater and she wasn't going to hold it for him. Then on the way back to the classroom after assembly, he decided to take a detour to the library
So driving home he says gramma, I want kd with hotdogs! Yes honey, gramma will make you that for the 5th time this week ,
Then we are walking to the condo from the parkade and he looks at me and says " Gramma, how mad could mom get, it was only 2 time outs"

if we do have KD I HAVE to turn it into a perfect gourmet meal.. or at least make it perfectly.. someone i knew once who used to make it.. would cook it so it wasn't quite el dente.. then throw in some margarine that had other things in it in the container.. and then threw the cheese in .. no milk. omg YUCK!.. gross.. I always cook it exactly how it says because of that.. usually add peppers/zuchinni .. sometimes tuna/groundbeef/hotdogs.. whatevers handy.

I really like the coldkd salad. I have never heard of that before.
I personally like the KD spirals. I dont add water or milk when I am mixing the cheese. I just add some margarine. It turns out extra cheesy with out adding extra cheese. I sometimes put in bologna or hotdogs.
I dont make it that often but if I do I dont worry about how nutrious it is. To me its a meal that is barely eaten. No big deal : )

I'm almost 27 & I still love KD with hot dogs. I quite like KD made & putting a little bit of Frank's Red Hot in it. Yum!

Thankfully i don't have to make it very often. My kids really don't like it, 1 hates pasta period this can be trying at times. But she does eat plenty of other things so can't complain, she just hates the texture of pasta. She's good though if she's at a friends and that's what they're having she'll force it down poor girl, good manners still count for something!

I don't eat it either, I'm Celiac, but the grandkids love it. They have some fabulous rice and corn pasta's out now that make fabulous lasagna, I'm in my glory again.
