I have mixed feelings. Mj was very messed up and had it not been Conrad it would of been another Dr. Mj had been on a downward slope for a very long time of his own doing.

i pretty much agree with sally888.. MJ surrounded himself with "yes" men and conrad murray was just one of these yes men who gave MJ what he wanted.. if he said no he would have been out of a job and it would have been another doctor in his place.. MJ wasn't innocent in all this he had been given this drug before (he knew it by name and by nickname) he wanted what he wanted and unfortunately it was what killed him in the end
i just hope his children find peace and can remember the loving doting father for what he wasWhen life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

I also have mixed feelings, but as a physicians, they're obligated to look after the welfare of their patients and "do no harm". Being a 'yes man' to MJ was just asking for trouble...he was basking in the glow of MJ's world, feeling important, dating multiple women and living the high-life.
I agree that MJ surrounded himself with 'yes men', as do many performers...and what they get is probably a product of their own manipulations.
It's sad MJ is gone, and that someone had to take the fall (even though his behavior was negligent)...there are no winners here.....

I absolutely agree with you. Just heard a doc on TV say that asking for "special care" = "substandard care". Yes MJ surrounded himself by yes-men, but just think, if Conrad Murray had said no he wouldn't be in the position he is today. The thought of someone easily accessing and using propofol outside a hospital setting is totally mind-boggling to me (and leaving a patient in a room by himself while on it...OMG)!!

I was never a fan of MJ but seeing how he kept crashing and burning was very sad. He really had no life as a child and didn't appear to find some-one to help him as an adult..such a shame.
I know...It seems just a few weeks ago.
One of my friends had tickets to the O2 concert. I'm not sure what she did with them.

I have to agree with the mixed feelings on this one.
1. Yes Michael Jackson was a rich person.
2. He was surrounded by a bunch of "YES" men (and women)
3. He seriously wanted the Propofol (sp?)
4. He asked other doctors to do it for them, they all said "No!"
BUT
1. Conrad Murray said "Yes".
2. Conrad Murray ordered 4 GALLONS of the drug and had it shipped to Girlfriends Apartment!
3. Conrad Murray gave it to MJ for over TWO MONTHS.
4. Conrad Murray did not have the proper medical equipment avaiable while giving it to MJ.
5. Conrad Murray did not call 911 once he found MJ in respiratory arrest.
6. Conrad Murray did not tell the Paramedics nor the ER Dr's anything about the Propofol he had given him that night.
7. Conrad Murray tried to get rid of/ cover up the evidence.
I am sorry but even if he was just a "YES" man as people call him, he did way too many things wrong for being a "Doctor". He abandoned MJ in the end. The definition of the crime was met in this case.
Who knows what his punishment will be? I heard tonight that he could get less then 2 years and with the LA Jails being overcrowded could be sent home on house arrest. The maximum he can get is 4 years, which I doubt he will get.
The reaction today was one thing, I fear the reaction that will occur if he does get sent home on house arrest!
One thing for sure, his medical licenses just went down the drain. But, as reported on tv, Conrad Murray was said to have been making a documentary about the whole case. So he may, in the end, end up making more money off this case!!!! That is disgusting!
Also of interest is that there is a 90 day ban on the jurors accepting any compensation from anyone. I am kind of hoping that at least one comes forward and gives us a peak inside the jury room, just because I am curious about this stuff.
BTW, I knew it was guilty when they took less then 10 hours to deliberate.. Umm then again, think about Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson... I guess you never know!Is it baseball season yet?

Well, here's what I'm wondering, and I've heard different stories about this.
He's to lose his medical licence...but if it wasn't granted in the US, and he's not Board Certified, does that mean he just loses it in California? And how can they take something away from him that they didn't grant him in the first place?
Can he practice in other states that don't follow the Californian laws?
Can he practice in his home country where he did receive his licence?
Just curious....it seems to complicated, and I've never heard any coverage about this aspect of his sentence...

The info about his qualifications, etc. is confusing -
- Dr. Conrad Murray graduated from the Meharry Medical College School of Medicine in the top fifty percent of his class in 1989. Meharry is not a top notch medical school but perhaps one in the second rank of such institutions in the USA.
- His specialties are internal medicine, cardiology and cardiovascular disease. He landed a fellowship at the University of Arizona in 1995 and was appointed to the Foundation for Cardiovasular Medicine in San Diego the following year. Given the knowledge of the heart and its processes he must have obtained through specialising in these areas, it is even more incredible that he administered Propofol to Michael Jackson.
- In the USA, medics are not licensed nationally as they are in most countries. There, doctors acquire their licenses from a particular state where they carry out their practice. In Dr. Murray’s case, he was licensed to practice in Texas, Nevada and California.
the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The ABMS, which oversees 24 Member Boards, says Dr. Murray was certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, but that certification lapsed when he didn’t maintain it, and expired in December [2008]. In addition, he has not been certified by the ABIM in cardiovascular disease.

The rest of that article talks about the contract the Dr. had, speculates as to why he was hired, etc.

Thanks for the article Natalka.
If the article is correct about all of Dr. Murray's accolades and qualifications, this is even a sadder case. What a waste of years of study and practice! What a discredit to the medical professional! Greed ruled in this case. And, unfortunately, there are probably other doctors working with the rich and famous who will do what it takes to make a buck off these patients.
@ theweave, Quote: ""4. He asked other doctors to do it for them, they all said "No!"", there are more doctors in Michael Jackson's past that have provided Michael with medication that the average man would not have access to. They are being looked at as well, like Dr Arnold Klein (dermatologist, participating in some of the 100 dermatology surgeries that Michael had). They may or may not go to court.
