I always have my BB phone with me so I haven't tried using the Playbook without it .

I love it as I can go out & still check in on SC & Facebook when I'm on the go, lol They are adding new apps & I love the Evernote one as I have all my shopping lists on it, hehe & also can use http://worz.ca lists too!!

Can anyonne confirm that these will be going on-sale at BestBuy and Futureshop as well? All of the WM in my area are sold out but FS has stock, so I want to go there today and pick one up and then get the price protection (assuming of course they are going on sale there)

Even if people are planning on waiting for the sale, remember there was a huge problem with the HP Touchpads, and a huge frenzy to get them. Better safe than sorry. Glad I have my two Playbooks ready for a price adjustment.

OK, so you actually have to have a blackberry PHONE to use this device? I just read an article, but wanted to make sure. Which sucks, because we don't have or need cells, but I would love to get this for the hubby. But we really don't need another phone bill.

The PlayBook can be a standalone product and you don’t need a BlackBerry, but it does help. The first iteration doesn’t come with cellular access so your three options for internet access are: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth tethering to any mobile phone (that is capable through DUN), and with a BlackBerry handheld through the BlackBerry Bridge. So no, you don’t need to have a BB to use the PlayBook.

Thank you so much everyone for this info! We were planning to buy our daughter the I Pod Touch for Christmas but when I saw this and showed my husband, he thought this was a much better deal. He even called our local electronics dealer for an opinion and they recommended the BB Playbook, hands down! He just hit our Wal Mart on his way back to work and grabbed two. One for our daughter and one for himself. That was the easiest Christmas gift I have ever bought my husband...lol.

I have an Ipod Touch (got 2yrs ago) but never use it as the Playbook does more stuff & its bigger!!
