Burke's organs and tissues were donated to save the lives of others.
The family has received several inquires about donations to be made in Burke's name. There have also been inquiries about helping with the outstanding medical costs and related expenses. For more information, check http://www.giveforward.com/sarahburke. The website has been set up to help raise $550,000 US.

I watched her tribute vid. Made me want to cry. She was such a beautiful girl who really paved the way for women in the X games. She was just newly married. Poor girl. My heart goes out to her family.

It's a very sad story.
I was looking forward to seeing her ski in 2012.
Surprised about the money owing. I thought she had made money on sponsorships? Maybe not. I can believe the bill would be that high. I had a $3K bill for a 2 hour US hospital stay once upon a time, and that was years ago.Last edited by AmberLab; Fri, Jan 20th, 2012 at 10:04 AM.

Sad and tragic, indeed - such a terrible loss for her family - and her other family of those in extreme sports.
She would have won the gold medal at the Russian Olympics!

How sad, what a tragic loss for her family. I'm really surprised about the medical bill. I read that the event was put on by her sponsor Monster Energy, so where are they in all of this? They haven't made any comments about what's happened to her. There area ton of comments from people asking the same thing on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MonsterEner...wall&filter=12

"The Canadian Snow Sports Association has a very comprehensive policy which covers these kinds of situations, but unfortunately in this instance she was involved in a third party event which was not part of the program and as such was not under the umbrella of coverage,"
