OMG I didn't know that about the bills. How could she not have insurance? Surely the province has to kick in? Is it because of her sport that she was not covered?

If they are left with these bills then it's a disgrace to Canada.

Burke's organs and tissues were donated to save the lives of others.

I watched her tribute vid. Made me want to cry. She was such a beautiful girl who really paved the way for women in the X games. She was just newly married. Poor girl. My heart goes out to her family.

Surprised about the money owing. I thought she had made money on sponsorships? Maybe not. I can believe the bill would be that high. I had a $3K bill for a 2 hour US hospital stay once upon a time, and that was years ago.

You're not covered by healthcare if you leave the province you live in unless you have travel health insurance.

How sad, what a tragic loss for her family. I'm really surprised about the medical bill. I read that the event was put on by her sponsor Monster Energy, so where are they in all of this?
