To be honest, I think SC needs some new moderators.

Some of the ones listed are not very active anymore or are not active at all. If we had some more active mods it would help out a lot. For such a large, busy and growing site I think there should be more.

But the mods we have now do a fab job and I am in no way complaning , just saying to lighten the load and help out.

I agree we need more mods in general, but it will not help with this issue - the majority of the spam is posted when most people are sleeping, given it is a Canadian site, we only have a couple of time zones to work with compared to international sites where you can have someone from Australia, Europe and US time zones to cover it all the time. People's lives change, like Amber used to be on more later but now doesn't get woken for a baby feed and doesnt check in, so even if we get someone now who is on late at night, they may start a new job or whatever

I don't see a lot of spam on SC during the day. There's always a lot of it at 3 am. But most people are asleep and it gets cleared out in the morning. So I don't think it's really that much of a problem. If you can get someone to volunteer to delete it in the middle of the night, great. If not, don't worry about it.
If you want to do something to protect people who don't know what it is from clicking on it, maybe just add a sticky warning people not to click on links from people with only one or two posts. From what I've seen, they don't get a lot of views anymore though.

People just need to report them and not reply which bumps them up, unless its really nasty troll stuff which SC gets very little of anyway, I just post thanks / thumbs up in posts and bump them down the page so people dont see them

We could always hook an zapper up to a cell phone with your SC email and zap you awake every time there is a spam thread

Lot of spambots on forums ..hard to keep track off .

I think SC should have a system where they have to answer a question like what is 2+4*8 or something like that before making a post..this will take care of all the automatic software spambots .

apart from the fact that spambots are getting more advanced (thats why captchas are all distorted now rather than just having the letters), I think that would put more legit members off the forum than spammers
