Here's a list of fruits and vegetables that are recommended to buy organically (due to pesticide residue):
Apples
Celery
Strawberries
Peaches
Spinach
Nectarines
Grapes
Bell Peppers
Potatoes
Blueberries
Lettuce
Kale/Collards
Pears
Potatoes
Raspberries
Milk and Eggs are also included in this list.
These fruits and vegetables are okay to buy non-organic, most likely because they have an outer peel or are not subject to as many pests.
Avocados
Bananas
Pineapple
Kiwi fruit
Mango
Papaya
Asparagus
Broccoli
Cabbage
Onions
Green Peas
Corn (but almost all corn is genetically modified)
I was surprised by the broccoli, onions and cabbage. I have a horrible time growing these vegetables due to cabbage worms and onion maggots!
I haven't tried everything organic on the list, but I do buy organic carrots because they taste so much better. Strawberries taste better too - they are fragrant, like the ones from the local u-pick.
I remember when organic items first appeared...they were really expensive, and hardly anyone bought them (and so they were often in really bad shape). We have a lot more choice these days and the prices are getting more affordable.
For those who buy a lot of organic fruits and vegetables, are there things that are much better tasting to buy organically? This thread is currently associated with: Bell

this is a good list. i disagree with the banana thing though. bananas are so GM'ed that organic is really the only option.
