We've been very busy but we're inching towards getting ready for the Christmas Season - managed to get most of the "summer/fall" flowers off the porches today and replace them with winter arrangements that we purchased at Zellers - $12.00- 10% off SPC. We moved a rocking chair onto the front porch and put one of them on it - with a maroon bow. I have a number of maroon bows that I'll add to the railing.
We bought a prelit Christmas tree last year and I assembled it tonight. One of the parts won't light - I was tired so I'll check this out tomorrow.
I found a white tree in the recycling during the summer - We've put it up on the back porch. We have a string of flamingo lights on the railing during the summer. I got 2 boxes of plastic, luminescent bulbs that fit over lights at the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas "Sale" last week for about .50 - I replaced every other flamingo with the bulbs and it looks very nice. I'm thinking of trying to find some pink ribbon to make bows to put on the tree.
I've replaced scatter rugs with Christmas ones.
I'm trying to do things that will stand up on their own if we don't get any more time to finish.
We've had a lot of family medical issues lately that have kept us running back and forth to hospitals/nursing home.
But we've got 2 sets of little guys coming to visit - so it's gotta look like Christmas around here.
I've got most gifts purchased but not wrapped.

I usually have the entire inside of the house done by Nov 25th but I am having dry wall put up and rubbed down right now and the dust goes EVERYWHERE, so I don't want all my deco covered in drywall dust so I have to wait until the job is done. I really hope it's done by the end of the week, not having my house christmassy is getting me down.
I did finish putting up the outdoor lights today though, I have my two Christmas trees up on the porch, reindeer on the lawn and all the lights on the house.

I just put up the Christmas tree this weekend. I normally wait until the first weekend in December but I have limited storage space and didn't want to pack all our stuff away and then not be able to get to it. I'm glad I did because I'm getting in the holiday spirit now.

We get a real tree, but don't get it and put it up until the week before Christmas - so it can last hopefully til Ukrainian Christmas on January 7.
Decorating will get done probably mid-December.

We put the tree up last night. I put the lights on and then stood back and let the kids go nuts with the decorations. Next it became a competition, who put more balls on, who made the better decoration etc, then came arguing and fighting, not the Norman Rockwell scene I had imagined. My tree looks like Polkaroo threw up on it, every colour imaginable. I'll have to wait till both kids are in school and fix it, the Martha in me is coming out! LOL

I am really antsy to start decorating, but my bf said not yet.
We always get a real Christmas tree, so we probably won't pick it up until a week before Christmas. We celebrate Christmas on the 25th and on January 7, so we try to make sure the tree will still look alive by then!

I used to put everything up on December 1st but now we wait until after DD's birthday party (this year the 4th). We'll probably do most of the decorating on Sunday the 5th. Can't wait! I love Christmas decorations.

Usually wait until at least December to start putting anything up. The dog is being a little devil & eats/chews on whatever he can reach so will most likely be putting it off longer this year. Most of the offices at my work haver their stuff up already and I get to decorate our office so i'm waiting until the 1st and will start. Luckily office doesn't have that much stuff to put up.
