I have not yet joined Sobey's club but I am tempted after reading threads about collecting points with FPC's.

Is it easy to collect points without FPC's, without overspending on items (ie. they are cheaper elsewhere)? What I am asking is, can you regularly find competitively-priced items with bonus points?

I find it sneaky that they don't publish the price of items with bonus points attached to them in the flyer.

Sure it's worth joining! I don't buy anything there which isn't on sale (I do a master shopping list from all the flyers when they come out) - and they do have great dollar days sales once in a while.

Also, make sure you are on the mailing list for them - yeah, I don't need to get the flyer from then, but they do send out bonus coupons - sometimes for bonus points for total purchase, plus coupons for items - lower prices for some, bonus points for others.

Why not? It's free to join and you never know how many you'll earn.
I don't have a Sobey's locally (closest one about 300km give or take). But my sister has one so when I'm visiting, out of town, etc I earn a few here and there. Once a year, I'll 'buy' some stuff with the points for my sister and she takes me to lunch. Win-win!

Sobeys usually has two mega bonus points products on the back page of the flyer. There are other bonus points on other products, some in the flyer and some unadvertised.

They don't publish the price of the bonus points items since those items are not on sale. They are regular price.

During the month of January, Sobeys advertised a mega bonus points promotion on a number of items. I picked up some of these, without a FPC or even a cents off coupon. An example would be the Frito-Lay 18-pack of chips. It retails for $6.99. With the offer of 725 points per box, you received $5.00 - $5.80 worth of Sobeys points (I received $5.80 since I had quite a few points already). Each box cost me $ 1.19 plus tax.

If you have cents off coupons and you combine them with a bonus points offer, you can save a lot. Yesterday, in addition to using FPCs on the Oasis juice boxes, I purchased:

    Clorox toilet bowl cleaner @ $2.99 - $1.00 coupon ; received 200 points = $1.60 ; so my out of pocket cost was $ .39 plus tax

    Minute Rice cups @ $2.49 - $ .50 coupons (printed inside the box) ; received 400 points WUB2 = $3.20 WUB2 ; so my out of pocket cost was $ .78 for 2/ $ .39 each

So, yes, it is easy to collect points. You just have to read the flyer, do the math and plan your shopping trip carefully.

One other perk I've learned. Rather than redeeming my points regularly, I wait until I have a minimum $100 worth of points and then I redeem them for a $100 Sobeys gift card. I find the gift card much more convenient to use since I can use it for any amount rather than multiples of $5.00.

    I hope that helps!

Does anyone know how this works in regards to Airmiles. Whenever I go into Sobeys here in Moncton, NB they always ask me for my Airmiles card. Can we collect both or just one?

    Thanks!

I love Sobeys. Their prices tend to be higher on some things, but for me, its the only store in town, and to run to another town is a pain for some da y to day. I find thei meat great, produce great, and if you know your prices, and do the Math on the points. Some things are a steal.
I did a pre order one week on Kraft Dinner, before Christmas (on of the the Mega Deals) and made 65 bucks, in points, and spend less than 5 bucks oop.
Donated the KD to the food bank.

    What is FPC ?

I have a Sobeys card and live right next to one, we usually go for late night runs of abby milk or bread, eggs etc. Since it is 24 hours here that helps. I usually also get their bakery items, late night and they always have 50% markdowns on bakery/ fresh items. ( Ex/. 12 All Butter freshly baked croissants for $1.99, after 8pm most days).

But I was never paying attention at the Bonus Sobeys point until reading these SC's posts. Going to go tonight to try and get the Clorex cleaner with 200 CS points.
So if I understand this correctly the Clorex cleaner is on sale for $2.99 - 200 CS points which is about $1.33 off at the lower redemption amount, - $1 coupon I have = $0.66 ? Lets hope this works )

I have my Sobey's points to automatically convert to Esso points. I very rarely shop there, and considering the amount of driving I do, the gas points have more bang for my buck.
