My family is planning a vacaton to Disney World. We were looking to go August 2012. It's going to be for 3 adults and one child, 12 years old. I was wondering if anyone has any information on cheap flights, hotels at disney, maybe some coupons!! lol. Any sort of information is greatly appreciated. I've never been to Florida, so not exactly sure of what to expect.

First and foremost, emnjoy your trip. I haven't been in years to Florida, so I'm sure things have changed a bit. Sally went I think last year, so she may have some extra info for you, and there is a dreamplanner here on SC, but that's more for staying right in Disney I think. Last time we went was the summer, and it was HOT!!!! We stayed in a small very clean place not far from Disney. How long do you plan on going for? Also, maybe check out the tourism board for the area, I got a coupon booklet for Florida thru them about 2 years ago.

Hello...we've been there in the past few years, and are returning this year: just the two of us. For reduced admission tickets and discout notices about Disneyworld hotels visit: mousesavers.com for lots of info on that. I believe we ordered our admission tickets from Undergroundtourist.com, and picked them up when we went down there.
Also go to: visitorlando.com/EN/ca/ for their free vacation planning kit (we just got ours today), and other discount offers.

August will be HOT, and crowded, so prepare yourselves for that. Lines will be long, so getting a "FAST PASS" for the exhibits you want to see first is paramount! Hit those AS SOON AS you enter the park to avoid the afternoon line-ups...just make a bee-line for them, then you can wander around as you please. You MUST see "It's A Bug's Life"! Omg...hubby and I turned around and went straight back in as soon as it was over, lol...it's a "3-sense" experience and so much fun!!!

Itravel2000.com, and hook up with an agent there who will monitor seat sales for you as well as help you plan your accommodations. As far as staying right on a Disney resort, it's a good idea: with the heat in August, you'll be able to just take the monorail straight back to your resort for a cooling nap-time in the afternoon AND you get to the park earlier than the general public, so you can head to that attraction you most want to see early! The Sports resort is the least expensive, I think....Have fun!

We went a few years ago at the end of August because Florida 's school back in then all the fast tracks were covered!!! Because we just walked on to rides we stayed in Disney at the music resort . So we could get great transportation to and from the parks also when u buy stuff they sent it back to your room for free!! We did not buy a meal plan. We bought food and made sandwiches etc in our hotel room and got a locker at every park. We treated ourselves to dinner every night my sister just came back and always gets the meal plan because she just does not want to deal with it...but she always has to pay at the end of her stay...never enough. Oh also cause we stayed at Disney we got to go into certain parks early or stay late..which was the best!! You also can use any other resort there..

I live in Florida and go to Disney a few times a year. Beside Christmas, August is one a the very busy time of year. You can stay at one of the disney hotels but it is fairly pricy. If you are planing on renting a car, I would suggest getting your hotel thru travelocity. Pick a 4 or 5 star top secret hotel. You will pay less then 75$ a night for something that is worth 300$ or more. They only tell you what hotel you get once you pay but you can narrow it down to one or two if you take a few minutes to comare the "smiley faces" on the reviews. That is how we book and NEVER been desapointed, ever... And most hotels will have free shuttles. If you get a 3 day park to park pass, it will also give you 3 free days at one of the 2 Disney water park, so the is 6 days taken care of, for the price of 3. You can PM me if you need more info

lol, I have this problem with work. If I want to do stuff I have to go to work and it's always getting in the way. LMFAO. Since I switched jobs, I never seem to have time for anything. This is part of my new years resolution. To spend more time getting back on track with my coupons, as that's gone down the pooper as well.



Every one, thank you soooo much for the help. I was looking at those secret hotel things. I'm glad to hear someone has tried them. They looked interesting, but I wasn't sure if it was some sort of scam lol.

We flew out of Buffalo for I think just under $200 return.
but that was in April. Prices will differ during the peak vacation times.
I will agree with the fast pass suggestion.
Be quick with those too becuase they only have so many fast passes for each individual ride.
If you aren't staying in the resort at one of their hotels I will suggest that when you get to the park take the Ferry over instead of the Mono Rail. Everyone rushes for the Monorail so it always much busier than the ferries.
It's not like it used to be as far as the Disney Charachters and pictures.
they are at certain spots at certain times and THATS IT!
They don't walk around the park anymore, so if your kids want pictures with Micky & Minnie you have to see what the schedule is and then go to that spot.

there is also hotwire that I use for cheap hotels (pretty much the same as travelocity's top secret) We travel ALL THE TIME and I haven't booked a hotel any other way for the last few years
