I ate there twice, actually. The steak was pretty good, first time,
so my Wife & Former Lover (as Charlie Fahrquarsson put it) went
back again a few months later, but we brought our OWN CUTLERY.
They had the UGLIEST and most uncomfortable steak knives on
this planet!
So we had nice, folding Laguiolle traveller's knives with us
the second time. The waitress was shocked!!!!

A true restaurant story,
A year or so ago, we were having lunch in a Montana's Style of restaurant and my friend's husband requested hot mustard with his corned beef sandwich. Our perplexed looking server shrugged and made a face.......but she returned with a ramekin with regular mustard heated up. She said she had never heard of hot mustard before. When he pointed over to the serving station and showed her where it was all she said was no problem-o !!
I guess she learned something new that day.

Sorry, I'm a little late on this but I want to tell a food service story too.
A few years ago, we ordered delivery from Popeye's chicken. The food arrived all well and good but one of the items was missing. No problem, mistakes happen, so I called the store back to tell them and, first, the girl who answered put me on hold for about 10 minutes. But then she comes back on and tells me it looks like the driver forgot to pack the item and left it sitting on the counter. So I'm waiting for the obligatory apology and, "We'll have it over to you asap," but instead she says, "We're very busy tonight, is it alright if he brings it to you tomorrow?" ..... ?! WHAT?? I couldn't believe my ears so I asked her to repeat it. And she did. So I told her, "No, you keep the red beans and rice but, darling, you're going to be famous because I'm going to tell this story every chance I get for the rest of my life!".... So there it is, I've told it once again.
Oh, and my two cents: If you're going to splurge a little for a decent steak dinner, there are much nicer places to go than the Outback. I'd even take the Keg over them.... but I miss Ponderosa too. We used to go to the one Kipling Ave., right beside the Newediuk funeral home. That always seemed somehow appropriate for some reason.
Anyway, thanks for the rep's! I'll try to catch the final overnight AC/DC word tonight.

I have a restaurant story too, well, actually it was a club, but I digress. This was in Florida in the nightclub district of Disneyworld (yep, they've got fun stuff for grown ups to do). My friend grabbed a table, while I went up to the bar to get drinks. The bartender quickly handed me a couple of drinks, & I asked how much I owe & whether I could have a few extra serviettes. He excused himself & went off to the other bartender. So, I was standing there waiting...& he left. A few minutes later, he came back with the manager, who said, "I'm so sorry, what are serviettes?"
I just about choked, trying to tell him that some Canadians call napkins serviettes & thanked them both for trying so hard to be helpful.
I finally got back to the table, a drink in each hand as well as a huge stack of serv, I mean napkins. I was laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face, when I explained why I had been gone so long.
I no longer have the word serviette as part of my vocabulary.
Hope everyone had a great day! Night all.
