Update in post #19, thanks..Walmart it appears has the wrong company name listed online but there are mainstay dinnerware sets available in store for $5.00..

I'll say this is over sorry..Since most people can't seem to find it..

Was just browsing around walmart.ca for dinnerware and saw this item: Corelle 12 piece Ceramic Dinnerware Set - White $5.00


Not available online but I checked and some stores show it as being in stock. I wonder if this is a good deal or is there something wrong with it,lol.

Great deal, but not in stock in my city.

Probably on for so cheap because it's really old stock, and plain white.

I have a love/hate relationship with Corelle dishes. I love them because they take a bit more abuse than regular dishes. I hate them because when one breaks, it does not break, it SHATTERS into millions of tiny pieces and is a massive PITA to clean....and then after about 2 weeks those tiny pieces grow legs and migrate and hide, waiting for you to step on them.

$5 is a good deal tho

I did not know that they break. My mother has had some pieces since we were kids and she was teaching us to wash dishes without breaking them. Haha.

I don't remember what I was watching, but they did a little experiment with Corelle dishes on TV once. They dropped the dish on the floor and it didn't break. But when they dropped 2 together and one hit the other on the floor, they definitely shattered.

I have seen them break and they break weird,lol. Anyway I realize they are plain white but for $5.00 I'm sure someone could use them..

and it says in stock for that store, weird. However sometimes what it says online doesn't match what is in store sorry. Certain companies only update their in store stock online at the end of each day, others update every 4 hours.

I went to Walmart Burnaby Supercentre & Grandview Hwy and both does not have it, even though online it said it's "in stock".

Oh do they ever break.....I think I have gone through 3 full sets in 5 years....kids dropping their bowls in the sink, me putting a plate on the table not so gently, magically in the cabinet by itself.....I even had one that snapped in half with a full plate of food on it as I was carrying it to the table (guess my kids eat too much and the poor plate just gave up).

They do have a good guarantee tho....if you call with your receipt right after the plate breaks they will send you a replacement piece no issues.
