Yeah, my problem is with the Atlantic Superstore interpretation. Bought a few varieties of Heinz Baby Food that came up with an incorrect price, they only gave me 1 bottle for free because it's all "Baby Food". I know they're wrong, but wanted some hard evidence. Either way, I emailed their customer service and will jump thru the hoops.

I've been trying to search for an answer to this...but I can't quite find it.

At Walmart last week, I was shopping in their Christmas clearance section and found a tree topper with the Walmart price printed right on the box (i.e. it didn't have a 'ticket' on it but the regular price of the item was printed right on the box). Also this item actually had a shelf label indicating the price of these tree toppers were marked down to $3.00.

If the items scans at full price, am I entitled to SCOP? The Walmart manager said NO because it doesn't apply to their items that have the price PRINTED on the box, it only applies to NON-TICKETED items.

Would you think that my item was a ticketed item?

nope, SCOP doesn't apply...............but you should have shown her the sign & gotten it for $3.................apparently some stores are putting up signs saying that SCOP is not in effect during Boxing week signs..........if they're not in Quebec, they may be allowed to 'suspend' their SCOP participation like this.........(better to suspend it momentarily, than drop out of participating altogether.)

I don't think you are, SCOP rules are fairly clear in saying non-ticketed items so I think the ticket is what they go by (because you could take any ticketed item and put it in a box that says $3)

If there is a pirce anywhere on, attached to, part of the item, product, box, etc... SCOP does NOT apply (or at least it should not by the policy).

Have not read this entire thread (yet) but boy am I glad SCOP is the law here in Quebec. Of course some stores try to claim it doesn't apply to them, and some stores are exempt from SCOP. But as a consumer, I love it!

I loooove SCOP. A couple of weeks ago I was at superstore and my bag of rice (10.99) came up as $42!!!! Couldn't believe it. I called SCOP on it and paid $0.99 In the same transaction, my two boxes of rice krispies also came up as $2.99, which was $0.02 higher than the shelf price they were labelled, right in the very front of the store! ($2.97). The manager was nice and ended up giving both boxes to me free, even though by SCOP i know I was only entitled to 1 free and the other at the proper shelf price.

    It was a triumph :D

Okay I have a question, I don't know if this applies to SCOP.

When I was browsing around, I saw a trolley that said "all games and accessories are 1$." There were at least 100 of these head phones on the trolley. They had a sticker of 5$. When I brought it to one of the scanners, it said 5$. So I'm wondering if SCOP applies?

My sister who is a super savvy shopper in Okotoks Alberta taught me about SCOP last spring.
I in return have told her about SC ...

SCOP exists as the retail industry's attempt to police itself and protect consumers from untold millions of dollars in overcharges with the barcode system.

It is important to note this was done only when our govt threatened to draft legislation to prevent overcharging of the public.

Retailers need to remember this when they think we are 'getting off' on getting stuff for free.

Charging more than the displayed price is fraud and everyone of us who has ever been overcharged is owed an honest apology and speedy restitution, not an attitude of belligerent ignorance....

At Rexall the other day, I checked out with a nail polish that was clearance 'red-stickered' at 1.56 on the shelf (no tag on the bottle itself). It rang up at the regular price of 5.99.

I asked about SCOP and the cashier said they don't do it. I'm not really sure he understood about SCOP. I explained it to him and he said Rexall doesn't participate in it.

I really don't know who SCOPs and who doesn't. Is there any way I can find out which stores do and which ones don't?

    Many thanks!
