I personally love this code! I have walked away with tons of free or discounted items.
Zellers is a BIG offender. They should be practicing this code as well. I do however understand why they don't........they would be bankrupt with all the freebies!!! lol

I finally got to take advantage of the SCOP yesterday. I went to Shopper's Drug Mart to buy Oil of Olay Products and use up my coupons. When I went to pay, 3 of the 4 items were scanning higher than they were priced on the shelf. I asked about SCOP expecting them to say that they didn't participate (happened before at shoppers). The cashier didn't know about it but she called the manager who agreed that I should get all 3 items for free. Woohoo! I was so excited and the cashier was excited for me too!

Was just in Safeway and bought two Albert mousse off the 50% off clearance bin at the back of the store.

On rang up correctly at $2.41 + tax the other at $3.32 + tax.

They gave the wrong one to me for free.

One walmart gave me the item completely free and didn't say that I had to tell them before they fixed the pricing error and the other new one told me that I still had to pay the tax on the right price and if I didn't tell them about the code before they corrected the error, they could not give it to me for free. Sooo weird. SDM, on the other hand, gave me the item completely free and even told me about it, I did not have to ask about it! Funny how they are all so different!

I got a free 20 pack of Cascade dishwasher tabs from Loblaws, as the price scanned at $2.00 higher...I didn't even notice until I got home & just called them. They checked the price while I was on the phone and I picked up my money the next week when I went back...didn't even ask to see my bill. Great service!

It amazes me how many cashiers don't seem to know about SCOP and how many are reluctant to give it to you, as if you're taking money out of their pockets. I now carry a copy of the policy with me.
The only place I've never had a problem is Extra Foods. They were actually the ones that first told me about SCOP. And they never give me a hard time about using coupons even if they're printed. That's probably why I shop there all the time.

Thanks for posting the link to the policy page. I hope having it on me will make things easier in the future.

Ask to speak to a supervisor if the cashier isn't cooperating. I think only the supervisor has the right to overwrite the price.

I used SCOP for the very first time last week at Loblaws. With my purchases I had some High Liner frozen salmon which I swore was 5.99. Since I was self-scanning I didn't tell the cashier when I saw it had scanned at 6.99. But I did give her my coupon. Afterward, I went back in the store to check the price and sure enough it was 5.99. I proceeded to Customer Service. After the clerk check the correct price and told me I was right, I mentioned SCOP. She said <Yes, I know all about it> (not sure if that meant she would have offered it had I not said anything). So I got the whole 6.99 back and since I had used a coupon, they paid me to buy it!! Great first experience!

Maybe we should add this pdf flyer to our coupon book for these ocassions? COURTESY OF THE RETAIL COUNCIL OF CANADA. It's one of those printable handouts for the cashier at participating locations telling them how SCOP works and has the 1-800 number on the back for disputes.

My husband and I have called the SCOP soo many times, mainly at Sobeys and Shoppers. Sobeys has quite a few incorrect items at times, so always always keep watch of your tally on the screen, or receipt (you will know mostly if things are supposed to be on sale). I've gotten free hair rollers, a hair brush, soap, $10 off a curtain at Wal-mart, frozen broccoli, flour, frozen roasting veggies, feta cheese, curry paste... random stuff! Some things I get free two or three weeks in a row, lol.

Zellers is another one that is terrible for bad prices. Half the time it's lower and half the time is higher. Of course I never complain when it is lower. lol

okay, i read the last few pages and i got a little confused. If it's on sale and the price rings up higher than that...it doesn't apply to SCOP?

BUT if its not on sale, but the little price tag on the shelf says, let's say 5.99 and it rung up as 8.99, you get it free?
