My friend was saying they were boycotting valentines day and said instead they were going to call it singles awareness day, then realized that was S.A.D. ,lol..
So Valentines day is now Singles awareness day..the day you are really aware that you're single.

Valentine's day is stupid anyways. I haven't bought anything for this occasion in the last 2 years. Why? I don't think that spending 100+ on some flowers that will die in a couple of weeks is worth it. I offered to purchase some decor for the house or even fake flowers that she could use forever...but nope..wants real ones.
Guess what? she knows where the flower store is and can get them herself. I think the whole notion of this holiday was created by Hallmark as a way to generate revenue.
Yes, this holiday makes me bitter. My fiance is well aware of that and I will never partake in this event again.
I do however, cook her something she really likes for supper or sometimes we go out on the saturday after (our work schedules are hectic). I don't competely ignore it...i just don't agree with spending lots of money on something that will die.

I agree, what a waste of money. I never let a boyfriend I had buy me anything on V-Day, he shouldn't be forced to buy me something just because the stores say so. If he really wants to buy my something nice it can be on a spontaneous day, not this sad excuse for a "holiday"

Valentines day has never been a huge day for me. Just thought what my friend said was funny. Well they thought it was really funny, after they said it they stood their giggling for about a minute.

I was invited to an event by a single friend for Valentines Day, the event is called Cupid Must Die.
I don't believe in presents for that day either, especially not flowers! I don't even enjoy regular priced flowers, much less those with the price bumped up by about 200%+. We might get some takeout or something, but that's about it.

Hahaha cupid must die.
I don't like the flower idea either, reminds me of funerals. Especially the smell.

I am in the minority - I love valentines day,
but told my dh not to get me anything for Happy Hearts Day. We might go out for dinner, but I would rather go on some other night than have to deal with an overly crowded restaurant. But if he bought me flowers
, I wouldnt send them back - lol!
And yes, I absolutely love
getting Valentine cards
and helping my little ones prepare their cards to exchange at school.

That's the only thing I like about valentines day, watching the little kids hand out the cards to each other. It's so cute!
When I was working in a JK/SK class last year they were all SO excited to get started, and ooh and ahhed over all the cards.

BF and I dont buy gifts..instead we go out to a fancy place and spend what we would of spent on a great meal together! As for the flowers...he buys mea nice bouquet almost weekly (nothing to expensive, just from our local farm market) bc he knows I love fresh flowers...but I dont want any 100 bouquet...a nice mixed bunch that cost 8 bucks is just fine! lol

Aw, Vee, that's SO nice about the flowers... it's awesome to have just a market bunch in the house!
