Way back in the 90's when I was a little Girl, I LOVED Barbies, every year for Christmas or birthdays all I would ever ask for was Barbie dolls or barbie doll play sets. So imagine my parents Surprise when I would get these sets and never play with them!?!?!? They would ask "Why" and my answer was this "I love them, but I don't want to ruin them, Im saving them for when I have a daughter of my own"
Because you see, I LOVED Barbies, but there was one thing I LOVED even more!!! The one thing I loved even more, was the thought of growing up one day and having a daughter of my own!! So they sat unopened in their boxes for over 20 years. My parents came to visit last month, and I asked them to bring them along. And they did!!! After 20 years of begging to be played with, my daughter is now the proud owner of some very old and very unique Barbie sets!!! These will never leave our possession, BUT if we wanted to sell them, they are selling for nearly $100 a set in pristine condition!!! So my smart mommy planning has resulted in over $1000 worth of Barbies, just for my special little girl!! The little girl I wanted since I was just a little girl myself!!This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by JennyFromTheRock; Fri, May 11th, 2012 at 09:01 PM.

Your daughter is very lucky.
I was not permitted to have Barbie sets.
But I was able to invite my friend over with her Barbie beach house and Corvette.
I know how you feel about your Barbies.
Great brag.

I bet your daughter was so excited to see them. They look real familiar to me too, purchasing them for my youngest when she was tiny. Barbies were a huge thing in my home with my 5 dd's. I still have some of the very best stuff tucked away for my gd when she gets a bit older, but unlike yours, the sets I have, have been well loved over the years. Congrats on making new family memories with your dd

What a great story. I didn't get any sets when I was little. But I still have the barbies I had when I was young. Sad thing is my daughter has so many. Not sure she would appreciate my old ones. So they stay boxed up. One day I will give them to someone who has none. Maybe in an Operation Christmas shoebox.
