Please say a prayer for the family and responders who are grieving over the loss of this beautiful little 3 year old boy who wandered outside at 4am while his family slept. He was spending the night at his grandmothers home and heartbreaking security footage shows him standing in the lobby about to go outside. He was found without vital signs hours later. I hope the family feels the love and care of all of us to help them through this horrible time. This thread is currently associated with: N/AThe best things in life...aren't things

I know SharonMe, as I was following the details in the news and saw his photo my heart stopped. I mean so innocent and so precious and beautiful and can you just imagine the torture this poor Grandmother is now going through? I will keep them in my prayers, this is tragedy beyond comprehension.

Yes. A sad day.
Summer months, little ones may wander to a neighbour's pool and have a bad outcome.
I was listening on the radio too, driving around for work. Very sad.
$15000 has been raised/donated for the family for funeral costs.

It is very sad and devastating to lose your precious innocent child. I think every parent has experienced just a little of that unbelievable panic when you loose sight of your child for a moment while shopping or when they're out playing and don't get back home when you expect them.
There is a fund raiser for the family started by Justin Kozuch, a Toronto father of a 3 year old himself. He's started a campaign at the crowdfunding website Tilt to cover the funeral. The goal was 10,000 and it's 6 times that and growing with 3 more days to go.https://www.tilt.com/campaigns/help-...al/description
Tilt has waived all credit card fees going forward for contributors.
The way this city got together and searched for Elijah, the money they contribute and the prayers they offer I hope will ease the pain the family is going through if only just a little.Last edited by SharonMe; Fri, Feb 20th, 2015 at 11:04 AM.

So sad and tragic. Prayers for the family.
Toronto Police have found another child outside in the cold with no clothes on as the city mourns the death of three-year-old Elijah Marsh.
The child was found Friday afternoon in Etobicoke. He was uninjured, but police have taken the child to the hospital.
A somewhat easy solution to a small child not being able to get out - if your door doesn't have a deadbolt up high, attach a hook and eye latch high up on the door.

That's exactly what I did many years ago when my boys were little.
There's also burglar alarms that you can get at the Dollartree that blares loud if the door is opened. If nothing else, everyone can learn from this tragedy and safety proof your home and make sure any home your child stays at is safe as possible, especially if they're staying overnight and not in their familiar surroundings.

So very unnecessary, the death if this little one.
We also had that kind of flip-lock at the top of our kitchen door before the outside door, latched it every night. Our front security door was tough enough for grownups to open...later we had a home security system installed.
There are not only doorknob alarms (many people take them on vacation hotels/resorts with them), there are also window alarms...none of them very expensive.
Why don't people take this more seriously?!
Unfortunately this may bring these issues to light.

the N.Y. Daily News also ran the sad story of Elijah today. His tragic death has touched so many.
