Thread: Anyone Play Banjo?

Does anyone here play or know anything about Banjos? Looking to get BF one for his birthday as he's always wanted to learn to play Rainbow Connection from the muppets
I know nothing about them so I was looking for some advice on what to look for!

I play guitar, but banjo is an entirely different animal, and a lot harder!
Your best bet is to go to a good music store to get some advice on what to get to start with.

found my banjo in a pawnshop, lovely 5 string jida.
is very hard to buy an instrument for someone, but
i'd suggest if you can look around the pawnshops.
(i also bought a great amp from one).
would do some research though, if you don't know
a lot about stringed instruments - ie checking the
neck etc. but if you can i'd go for an older banjo,
better sound.
