Can't say I've ever seen one of these.

It looks like two birds in one!

See what I mean about kind of being half Blue Jay, and half Cardinal

I Love Stellar Jays and got to see them when I was visiting in the Kootenays.

Here is a little info on BC's Provincial Bird

Steller's Jay: The Steller's jay (Cyanacitta stelleri) became the province's official bird on December 17, 1987. Colored a vibrant blue and black, it is found throughout the province. This lively, smart and cheeky bird was voted most popular bird by the people of British Columbia.

Demented cat from down the street caught a robin on my lawn and took it home!

That's how I knew we were going to have a downpour awhile ago!

Interesting how the birds know before us!

That's what they said about that earthquake in China. The Pandas were acting weird beforehand.(Yes I know Pandas are not birds)

Another interesting fact ... kangaroos aren't birds either. lol
I don't know why I said that, thought it was funny, but it probably isn't. ha ha

The same nest of baby robins I posted about before now is tilted and there are 3 blue eggs I can see BUT I haven't seen the mother at all in two days. Do you think she abandoned them I don't want to touch the eggs but the nest seems like it is about to fall over any second...any advise?

Maybe use a glove and secure it as best as you can.

Doesn't sound good, I think she's either abondoned them, or met her fate.

I wonder if you should put something over them to keep them warm or that may be a dumb idea?

She probably has abandoned it if you have not seen her in a couple of days. You can try to secure it but if she has moved on it will not make a difference. Robins can actaully have 2-3 broods a yr here in Manitoba and I am sure more in areas that have longer springs and summers. If she has moved on then do not worry she will have another brood.

Many things can knock over a nest, wind, Magpies, Crows etc, raccoons, weasels.... usually though they take the eggs.

Oh geez now I have a new nickname... UIP ( unicorn icon person ) HAHAHAHA!!!!

BTW I have seen Peregrine falcons on my property. We have a birdhouse of sparrows that live here all yr around and at times the falcons will come into the yard to catch them. I never knew how big they actaully were till I saw one fly past me about 10 ft away. I startled it.... Gorgeous.

I think Peregrine falcons are big enough to pick up all sorts of things.

We have some type of falcon/hawk near the 401 and they are massive!
