Saw a chickadee too up close and personal today, so unafraid, cheered up my morning seeing the little fellow.

I put some crumbs out on the balcony for the (little) birds as the ground is covered with snow. They seem to like perching themselves on top of the buddha's head lol

I counted sixteen robins in the catalpa tree this morning. They didn't look too happy. There's close to 10cm of snow on the ground right now and it's still coming.

They brought friends. Apparently, the catalpa tree is THE place to be. I gave up counting at about 30.

We were on our way out today from our place just outside of Bracebridge and were pleasantly surprised to see what we believe to be a Pileated Woodpecker.

My wife bought a bird feeder a couple of weeks ago.
A few pretty common birds seem to be making it a regular feeding spot.
Nice to occasionally look out the window and see birds feeding

I SAW that robin I have been hearing yesterday. But then it WAS about 10 degrees. Everyone and their dogs were out walking yesterday!

We saw this guy very close to our house and have already sent the pics of the bird to the Trumpeter Swan Society who were very interested in the exact location of the bird.

Woodpecker - not sure what kind, and I'm not sure they are common to our area.
Amazing how small it is, but wowsers - that's some fast pecking it does!

The usual - robins, starlings, chickadees. Heard the cardinals but haven't managed to see one yet. Shy little critters.
