Thread: Garden of Gifts
-
Wed, Jun 6th, 2012, 08:31 PM #1
Since I have lived in this house I have collected many perennial plants. Some as gifts some from splitting. Not being much of a green thumb. I was worried my yard looked like a mishmash of thrown together plants
But now a couple of years later. I see blooming Bleeding hearts from a mom that lives to far away. Iris and ferns from a gramma that has moved on to a better place. A huge cherry tree from a gone on his own son. Something I just refer to as the super Freak plant. I got from my sister. In every space there is something from someone special in my life. Now no matter what other think of my garden I admire it with pride and many memories of the how really blessed I am
I thought I would share because it really is one of the things that make my house my home. Anyone who is just starting and moved into a new house. Might consider doing this instead of spending hundreds on generic landscapes designs. I think this type of garden is worth so much more, Anything worth while takes time

What a beautiful experience....and you're absolutely right...I have lilacs from my parent's home, as well as yellow daisy-like flowers that line the back fence (we're talking our home that now belongs to our DD and her family) and grow up so high, it hides the chain-link fence backing onto the green-belt!! I don't know the name of them, but they're also from my parent's home..
You're so lucky to have such lovely 'green' memories!
And yes, of course...pictures!!!

I think a garden that has memories and love behind it is the best kind of garden. Your garden sounds beautiful and lovely, and I am with everyone else on loving to see some pictures if you have time.
