I never win anything....BUT MY HUBBY DOES!

It's safe to say that my husband and I are not very fortunate in the area of winning contests. I enter several contests on a regular basis and have never won a single one. Hubby on the other hand does not ever enter contests and says he can't be bothered because he never wins. Okay...good point...but..you can't win if you don't enter is my motto.

So here is where I get to say "you CAN win even if you don't enter"

At hubby's place of employment they have an amazing human resource team that always always always have the best interest of the employee at hand. They are always doing random things for people. A lot of times they will allow employees to pick a name out of a hat on a Friday morning to see who will be granted the afternoon off with pay. Always cake and mini celebration for employees birthday. Preferred parking in the lot, etc etc. Anyway....you get the drift.

So every year they enter all the employees names into a draw to win some sort of prize. It always differs. Last year it was a $3000 voucher for Home Depot to use any way you wish. Home renos, buy tools etc. The year before it was a $3000 grocery voucher. Very awesome gifts and amazing generosity from this company. There are less than 100 employees throughout all departments so when someone wins the employees are very grateful because they always know the person that won it and are super happy for them.

So yesterday was the drawing for this years prize. Hubby calls me at work 6 times before I had a moment to answer him. I thought something awful had happened since you know, 6 calls within 10 mins is a bit much. He calls to tell me he won the yearly drawing but he won't tell me what it is until he gets home. No matter how much pleading I do He just tells me I will be so excited to find out what he's won.

HE FINALLY get home and hands me the envelope. I don't feel a gift card so I'm wondering what it is. All the while at work I'm thinking groceries, yes I hope it's groceries. That would be amazing. I could save money for a trip to the south this winter or even a cruise. Oh yaaaaaaa!

As I'm slowly opening the envelope I ask hubby if it's for groceries. He said "will you be disappointed if it's not" I said "of course not but it sure would help us save for a nice vacation" Then he says (with sad eyes) "I hope you are okay with what I won" Of course I am, silly. So I open the envelope and inside is a voucher. I read the voucher and it's for a TRAVEL AGENT. Congratulations on your win. Please give us a call so we can arrange a vacation for you at your convenience. This voucher is valid for $5000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I about died. $5000 REALLY?!?!?! I asked hubby if it was a joke. He assures me it's not. I about fell off my chair. My legs went numb and I just could not believe his fortune.

As I said we have never won anything in our lives so this is such a huge blessing. Now we can plan a vacation and not worry about having to save for it. I am so grateful for hubby and his hard work and his generous company.

I'm super excited. Now to decide where to spend the voucher. EEEEEEEEEEEK

OP, you gave me some ideas to pass on to our human resources department.
I don't think we can get $5000 but a nice Home Depot gift card is a good idea.

Such a great HR department --building morale in the company and doing it on a Friday too --smart!
