You are going to find a$$h...s where ever you go so try not to let it get to you. Obviously stand up for yourself and your son but keep your composure because then the other person is the one who comes across like immature.
...and btw I'm a 40 year old mom and my youngest is 3 and I get the same looks/comments when she acts up in the store. I just don't care anymore. She's my third child so after going though that with my other two also I just ignore people like that and figure if they want to be miserable and be rude to me -so what- they're not going to ruin my day and they just look bad in the end.
If I were you I would take it as a compliment, I much rather be mistaken for someone younger than older! So don't let them bother you, you know your kids and what you are doing.i think people see me with my two year old and assume im some inexperienced mom who (because i look younger than my age) doesnt know what she is doing. meanwhile i have a nearly eight year old daughter and i have been there done that already in respects to little kid parenting. if i doted over his every whimper id have a terror on my hands....

As I was reading this thread, I couldn't help but be jealous that most mom's are cool when their kids have a temper tantrum.

As kids, my brothers and I dared not do anything to ever embarrass our parents, ever, when we were out, even at age 2 yrs we would have been disciplined.
If we started to act up, my mom and dad only had to give us a certain look and we would be quiet. As the older kid, I always would watch out for my brothers and try to soothe their crankiness before it was too late. So yeah, I dare say, if you're ever in the same store as my parents, they will judge you silently.
I love my parents, but they are epitome of "no nonsense" parents.
Add me on twitter and I'll add you back! Just mention you are from SC!

I was a no nonsense parent.. both for my mental health and my kids lol.. their dad was away 9 months of the year so it was just me and them.. I made sure they had regular afternoon naps and bedtimes.. I was lucky enough to be able to stay at home with them so I planned shopping trips when they weren't tired or hungry. This didn't always mean happy trips but mostly it did.
I guess I do judge on some level when I see parents struggling with over tired upset children.. I assume they are feeling overwhelmed and stressed and I feel compassion for them. I find the screaming of a child doesn't bother me like it did when it was mine..
