Thanks OS,
For some reason I received 2 e-mails saying I'd unsubscribed to this mailing. I didn't but now have to deal with Safeway's administration to get back on then I remembered your thread.
Not shown in the e-mail is the Buy 2 Get 30 AMs on Purex (30 Roll TP). It's a fairly good one too: I did an evaluation at the end of this page:
http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/showthr...t=23424&page=4
As always you have to evaluate just how good these offers are as Safeway boosts the prices on many of the specials, eg., a B2G50 on Royale TP @ $9.99 only to find it sells for $6.99 the following week. Depending on what you use AMs for this might not be a good deal, eg.
Buy Shell gas and the 50 AMs have a value of $5.72 so buying the following week is better.
Buy something with an average AM value of $0.14 then you save $7 (AMs) - $6 (difference on 2) = $1 on the higher price.
Don't just buy something because it has AirMiles. Good example:
Last week our Safeway was out of the Butcher's Cut weiners (which were B2G50 last week too). They were 675 g @ $5.49.
450 g Schneider's are on for 2.99 this week (Buy 3 Get 20 or Buy 5 Get 50).
Assuming Safeway charges $5.49 this week too on the Butcher's Cut the 2 costs $10.98. Assuming $0.14/AM then effective cost is $10.98 - $7 = $4.98.
Buying 3 Schneiders equals the same weight. Total cost = $8.97 Factor in the 20 AMs (6.67 AMs/package) and it drops to $6.17. So there's a price advantage to the Butcher's Cut,
unless,
you buy 5 Schneiders. As part of a Buy 5 the equivalent price on 3 Schneiders is $8.97 - $4.20 = $4.67
Now you've got a $0.21 advantage buying name brand and the AirMiles.
Always evaluate the special AirMile offers carefully. Don't become addicted to AirMiles.
Also, I haven't checked the price on the pizza yet on the Signature Pizza but Safeway also has Piazza's Pizzas on Buy 2 ($5 each) Get 25 AirMiles. This might be a better deal than the e-mail special. Also there's a $1 off coupon in the "We Care" books for Signature Pizza (code: PLU8280 good until Aug. 31). If you don't have the code just tell the cashier and she'll key it in by hand.

Actually, when I think about it Safeway's last few B2G50 on Royale TP have been at $10.99 each while they'll often have it at $6.99 later.
Buying Royale for 50 AMs would be a bad deal (especially as the last time Safeway had this on the Fairway across the street had a loss-leader special on for $4.95).

Thanks to you too OS,
Was in Safeway yesterday so looked at the pizza offers and compared the Ham & Pineapple:
Piazza Buy 2 Get 25:
950g reg. $7.99 on sale for $5
Signature Buy 2 Get 50:
1.3Kg @ $10.99 each
In a close but not exact comparison buying 3 Piazza Pizza's equal 2 Signature pizzas (2.85Kg vs. 2.6 Kg)
Prorated value of Airmiles on Piazza would be 25 AMs x 1.5 offers = 37.5 AMs
3 Piazza Pizzas = 3 x $5 = $15 - (37.5 x $0.14/AM) = $15 - $5.25 = $9.75
2 Signature = 2 x $10.99 = $21.98 - (50 x $0.14) = $21.98 - $7 = $14.98
Even if you have 2 "We Care" coupons that only takes the Signature down to $12.98
So you get slightly more weight with Piazza (2.85kg vs 2.6 Kg) for much less effective price ($9.75 vs $12.98 to $14.98).
The Piazza Pizza is by far the better value this week.
What my analysis doesn't count for is quality but I've yet to find a quality frozen pizza.
