This week Safeway has them as a BOGO at $6.95 which works out to $3.475 each.

The AM special only gave it a 22.5 cent advantage over regular because of price boosting to cover the AirMiles.

Here's how well you can do on gift cards this week.

If you have this month's Chatelaine which my wife gets it came with AirMile coupons.

There's one for 100 bonus on a $100 purchase for this coming period.

There are also various 5 times base mile coupons around as well.

Buy $100 gift cards get 60 AMs

Bonus = 100 AMs

5 x base = 25 AMs (1/$20)

$100 on Amex basic card = 5 AMs

Total AMs = 190 = approx. $26.60 value

This is the same as a 26.6% discount

Even if you used a low priced offer such as Shell gas you get $21.72 in gas.

If you used the AMs for 2 for 1 movie passes it's worth approx. 7.5 offers so you'd save around $70 there.

For myself, I'll likely buy some of the Cara cards as I can write off half the cost for meals from my home business.

Just checked.

Apparently you cannot use the $100/100 AM bonus on gift cards.

But you should still get the 90 AMs so it's still a 12.6% discount buying the gift cards and using them instead of cash.

Got this week's link?

I received a phonecall from Safeway on my answering machine saying I hadn't received the email.direct because I had accidently "unsubscribed" or my INBOX was full and that I would start receiving again on the 24th. They had previously indicated the 17th. The also indicated in a manner that the 10 e-mails I sent was too many (all polite BTW).

I pointed out to them that my INBOX was only 1% full and I have now received three (3) "unsubscribed notices. Even if I had "unsubscribed" by accident the first time the only way to unsubscribe the next two times was if I had received the mail out. I also pointed out the need to keep sending the emails as they just get passed on to someone who only thinks they've corrected the problem.

I suggested that rather than blame the customer they fix the problem at their end.

I also suggested that as a writen having produced several article on AirMiles featuring Safeway's involvement they might want to get this fixed.

Potential goodie if you have the Muscular Dystrophy Book.

There's a buy 2 get 30 AMs on the Signature Pizza while the email.direct has a buy 2 Get 50 AMs.

Awhile back they had a similar thing on batteries and I got both bonuses so it should work again.

Usually when it's Buy 2 on these pizzas they're $9.99 so assuming it's the same and 10% off today then $9 each or $$18 total and you'd pick up 80 AirMiles approx. = $11.20 in AMs.

Also, the email.direct has a B2G30 on LaGrille spices while the flyer is B2G20 on McCormick.

If McCormick is better than $0.70 cheaper per equal weight per bottle you're better off buying it.
