If this is the quality of the electorate, is it any wonder, we have the politicians we do?
Apparently, there are a few problems with the program, which was started in 1996 under Clinton's term in office.

Most of us find it totally baffling as it seems to take aound 18 months from start to finish. I noticed that in both 2000 and 2008 since the POTUS was ending his second term and both parties had to find a candidate. In UK, elections tend to be 6-8 weeks long.
as for Obama himself...like all of his predecessors, the majority of the British like him. There isn't the same level of racist hate of him that there is in the US or the doubts of his religious views, except on the extreme right-wing side.
As for the Eurozone, the British are far too busy blaming the French and Germans for that...
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

yup, and when you point out that it was under President Bush that the programme was extended to cell-phones and it's not funded by the govt but the phones companies, some folks still blame Clinton and Obama for looting from the tax payer.

No I am not watching. We already know the script. Obama promises a bunch of stuff and blames everyone else for his problems. Romney promises to be less terrible and blames Obama for everything. The media give Obama a verbal lapdance and Romney flashes his bits to the righties, who start beating their chests.
Repeat
Repeat
I'd rather watch Benny Hill re-runs. Actually, that does sound appealing, maybe I will.

Well that debate was a clear victory for Romney.

Auntie Beeb disagrees.
Romney wins US election debate
US Republican candidate Mitt Romney won the first of three televised debates with President Barack Obama, polls and analysts say.
After the 90-minute duel centring on taxes, the deficit and healthcare, polls gave Mr Romney a 46-67% margin with Mr Obama trailing with 22-25%.
Commentators said Mr Romney appeared in command while Mr Obama was hesitant.
Mr Obama has led national polls and surveys in the swing states that will decide the 6 November election.
The BBC's Mark Mardell says if the gap narrows or Mitt Romney starts moving ahead of Mr Obama, that will be a huge boost for his campaign, and suggest he could win the White House.
However if they hardly budge, then the Republican challenger will be in deep trouble, the North America editor adds.

Obama is clearly out of practice. Not the man who debated himself into the white house 4 years ago. Then again Ropmney was short, read totally absent, on details.
Oh and that constant smirk on his face reminds me so much of Dubya.

Is it just me or is there a real "creepy" factor to Romney. Can't quite put my finger on it though. It's not just the fact that nothing coming out of his mouth is the truth, it's the whole smirk, body posture, head tilt weirdness going on. Maybe his magic underwear is too tight
