Well...here's the story--(sorry it's going to be a long one)
After collecting enough coupons to acquire 48 containers of Benefuls Prepared meals I decided it was time to stock up. I noticed that they were on sale at SOF this week so went in to inquire about purchasing 4 cases. The fellow I spoke with informed me that this would not be a problem but they would have to special order it and that it would be available Tuesday. (today) I also explained that I would be using my coupons towards my purchases and would it be okay to use them all in one transaction and after scanning the coupons in depth he said "No Problem!" I had 42 save $1.25 and 5 B1G1.
Today I made my way back to the store to pick up my "special order" at which time I explained the details to the kind woman at CS. Unfortunately the gentleman I initially spoke with was not in at the time and there was no extra stock of Benefuls at the back. She asked me to shop around for 10 minutes until the purchaser came on duty and she would ask him. She also stated that if they had available stock on the shelf that they would definitely sell it to me. So I browse around the store to see if I can find anymore worthwhile deals and did indeed find a few. I head back to the CS and she tells me sorry they don't have any extra cases of the dog food but by this time I have checked that they have a lot on the shelf so all is still well with my planned purchase. I went to get the dog food, double checking everything, organize coupons and go back to the desk. By that time the woman is on a break and the Ass. Store Manager is running the show. I once again explain the situation and tell him that I have coupons for everything in my buggy including the 48 Benefuls and it was at this point I was pretty certain he was about to pass out. The guy went white in the face, did a very nervous laugh and asked to see the coupon for the Benefuls. I could almost hear his heart pounding out of his chest as he read it , did another nervous laugh and then proceeded to cautiously ring through my order. Fortunately for him the CS lady returned midway through the transaction. After laughing hysterically she calmly took over the transaction, while he watched on. I think he was perspiring profusely by that time.
At one point the woman commented that I was the "coupon queen" to which I had to laugh and say "Are you kidding me! I am barely a princess compared with some of the people I have interacted with." At the end of the transaction there was a group of employees around who all seemed quite mesmerized by this situation going down in their store and amazed by how much I actually saved. Believe me I am not joking about this. The assistant manager asked if I wanted him to lift the bag of Benefuls into my shopping buggy and actually tripped over the cart, as well as another customer while doing so. As I walked away I thanked them all very much and told the guy that I was pleased with the service I got today; as, SOF does not have the best reputation when it comes to the use of coupons. I could see the look of relief on his face as I walked out of the store and I overheard him comment about his fear to another employee as I passed.
So now here is the breakdown of what I bought and the savings I generated:
2 x 1lb fresh strawberries= $3.99 each with SOR card $1.99 each
1 x Sunlight Green Detergent = $7.99 Clearance $3.65 -$2 off coupon
1 x 1.6 kg bag of Benefuls dry food= $7.99(I think) with SOR $5.99 -$5 off coupon
1 x case of Campell's COM soup= $9.99 with SOR $5.99 - 3 x $1.00 WUB4
48 x Benefuls Meals= $2.59 each with SOR $2 each - 42 x $1.25 off and 3 BWG1(After checking I noticed that she actually rung through 4 so saved an extra $2)
Total In Store Savings= $41.05
Total Coupon Savings= $68.50
Total Savings $109.55
Total OOP= $59.69 HST= $12.68
I also earned 491 SOM points
What this really adds up to is at least a 5 month supply of Benefuls Prepared meals plus a few extras and one extremely happy dog!
I also had to clear off another shelf in my linen cupboard to make way for my growing stash.
P>S: Tomorrow I will make my way over to SDM for the 20 x Optimum points event!
