Well, I has a huge sad....

I opened the front door about six or eight inches just to get some air into the house - it started getting cold so I didn't leave it very long, so I went back from this room where I am to close it.
About an hour later maybe, I hear all this meowing and can't identify as to where it was coming from - I checked the bedroom which was closed with my husband sleeping there, no cats caught in there.
Go to the front door and open it - Vader all panicky runs in meowing - the outside screen door was wide open - which I hadn't noticed when I pulled the storm door open earlier - so both cats went out. GAH!
They are not outdoor cats, ever! And they don't know the neighbourhood because of this.

Called and called for Taffy, no sign of her. By this time I was crying like crazy, because Taffy is a 'special' cat and cannot fend for herself outside - because of her being part Ragdoll, they do this thing like if they would see a car they would lie down in front of it instead of running away...
SO I woke my husband up, and he went out searching down the block - saw her and tried to get her to come, she wouldn't - he said she was acting like a wild cat, running and leaping over fences. Waited a bit and he tried again, no luck.

Now it's been hours, and we just have to wait for now - hoping she comes back.
At first Vader was still all meowy and crazy calling for her mom, but she's settled down, and just sitting vigil at the living room window by the door.

And I've calmed down, but I'm SO worried. She's 10, and my sweet beautiful furball!

I would be a basket case Natalka! Ours are the same, no outdoor trips ( DH sometimes allows and supervises Claudius on a small walk-a-bout in the closed in back yard ) I pray Taffy will wander back on her own, cats are wise!! She is going to find her way back. Hopefully before dark.

Nat, that's very sad to hear. Really hoping that Taffy comes back soon, and she's okay.

Hope Taffy is home soon Natalka.

1 p.m. and no Taffy.
We have both front and back doors open, windows are up on screens so we can hear if she comes. Vader has been holding vigil, alert to any noise outside - and she finally went for a nap.
My husband has gone out a few more times this morning, but nary a whisker...
It's sunny and eight degrees, so at least the weather is okay for her.

If she's not back by before supper, I'll call our son to come over after work- she responds to him the best, so that will be the best chance.
I'm most worried that she'll go farther - our neighbourhood is very quiet, but several blocks away is a busier avenue and a few more away is the main drag for this side of the city. I'm praying she stays in yards, at least!

I've just cried myself stupid through all of these hours, so much that my gut and eyes just ache.

I keep coming back here to find out if Taffy's come home....I know you'll let us know the minute she's safely with her family again....Hugs, Nat...Lynn

I will update as soon as something different happens.
Just spoke with my son, he's on his way over.

Husband just drove all the streets and backalleys surrounding us, and no sign of her.

Have left your contact info with the SPCA, does your local radio station announce lost pets? We have found our dog with these methods. Just a thought, been thinking about you all day.:(

Thanks, everyone - will check in with the SPCA again tomorrow, and leave pics where we can in the area.
We have it on Facebook and Reddit. Local radio doesn't do it here.

Milan made the rounds here on foot several times and by car, but no luck. I am sure if Taffy were near, she would go to him.

What made me really sad was that after a meal here, Milan usually parks on the couch and has Taffy in his lap the whole time - so he said today that his lap felt cold and so empty... Vader will stay for a while with him, but Taffy stays with him til he moves.

Well, it just started raining here - hoping she is okay somewhere since she's not here.

Sigh!

Oh, Nat; you must be heartbroken. She's probably huddled somewhere, keeping warm; someone will find her tomorrow or she'll find her way home. Prayers are with you and Taffy, Hon.....

Oh, Natalka! I am so sad to hear about Taffy! I can understand your tears! Do you live anywhere near where you used to live? Could she have headed there, somehow? Hope you have better news tomorrow!

avon, we live very far away from where we used to live.
Milan just left, and said he would make another round of the neighbourhood. He's got SUCH good friends, who saw his post on FB and offered to come over and search as well - but that's just not necessary.

I just have to think like Lynn said - and my son - that she'll find somewhere to huddle and stay warm as she can, after all she is a cat.
Tomorrow is another day, though I pray I hear her crazy meowing at any point during the night.

Now part of the problem is that she doesn't have a regular cat voice or meow - she just makes funny sounds, but she can be loud if she wants to be heard!

It's painfully obvious that Vader misses her mommy, so I've been trying to alternately play with and snuggle her!

I was on my way up to bed but was really hoping for a positive update about Taffy. You are really doing everything you can Natalka, and if she is afraid and just trying to stay safe, warm and dry until the morning so be it. Many positive vibes being generated for her safe return.
