Hello every1. Thank you for all your support and get well wishes.
As you know, I fell on Sunday morning. I spent almost 12 hours in the hospital yesterday. I have a spiral fracture of my right fibula, actually 3 of them.
They look something like this, only lower, and again, 3.

They're trying to avoid surgery, so zero weight baring. I'm in a cast; the w/chair arrives tomorrow. I'm trying to learn how to use crutches, but I'm not doing too well; I keep losing my balance. A raised toilet seat is being delivered, the home health care nurse started this morning, and comes daily. I'll be getting meals on wheels, and since they took my licence, they'll be providing transportation to all medical appts. Anyhow, the list goes on, but needless to say, I'm not having much fun.
Just wanted to bring you up to date, and thank you for the encouragement to go in and get checked out. I knew in the middle of that 1st night, it was broken.
Again, thank you, and I hope you all have a great day.

Oh, hicks - my gosh. Well, I am glad you are going to be so looked after, but so sorry you have to go through all of this. Are you in a lot of pain?
Just don't take any chances, let others look after you.

Oh, Hicks, my Dear, I'm so sorry for what you're having to endure but like Nat, I'm so pleased that you're receiving so much care! As to the crutches, I was a little wobbly on them, too, but then they showed me that I wasn't to put any weight on my underarms with them, just use my hands (ie no leaning on them) and it was like night and day: I could boogie around on them so much easier. Perhaps that may help you?
Did they provide you with some good T3s with codeine or equally strong meds for your pain. I know full well the kind of pain a break brings on, so I hope you have great pain management.
And what about Jake? I can't see you caring for him and letting him in and out all the time....hope someone can come by and help out with him...he'd be such a good companion when you're not feeling well, though...
SO!! Good for you for going in!!! I hope you can avoid surgery, plates and pins, but take it from one who knows, if it has to be that way for proper healing, then whachagonnado, eh?
Stay strong, Hicks...wish we could all live close by to help and visit you...Hugs, Lynn

Nice to see you here, Hicks...yes, Hubby and I watched the ceremony and observed the silence; it always makes me get teary-eyed...And how are you today, Hon??

Hi. :hello:
Me, just fair. A bad night, painful day, & I had to send w/chair back. Wouldn't fit through doorways, so I'm a little frustrated. :(
-
are there no narrow designed wheelchairs that they could get for you hicks? I mean you need it right?
-
I've tried. I'm too big for a paediatric chair, and even the smallest around is 2" too wide.
So, the Manager of C.C.A.C. is coming in the morning to try & figure something out. Here's hoping.
