eeeeep, wishing you lots of luck Abby!

Are you locked into a mortgage or lease? Do you live in a big enough place where you could just live in your seperate areas until you can both save a bit?

Not an easy situation. I'm really sorry! Wishing you all the best!

Does he go far away? Is it often?

I do know what that's like - around the time our son was born and for a few years after, my husband did lots of away work - a week, two or three at a time - it was really hard sometimes. Mind you, this was also pre-technology so even the phonecalls were seldom because long distance was expensive!
Plus we had moved to a city where we knew no one - but somehow we made it through.

We own a house. Well the bank owns most of it I think it will sell fast and we will just split the profit. I hope to be able to buy something small out right cause I only have a budget for $809 for housing (including utilities, and insurance and maintance) Maybe a town house 40 minutes away from here???
The sad part is I cannot afford my pets I am not sure what will happen to them??

He's up north in a remote area - at a mine. It's about a 14 hour drive. He works 3 weeks on and 1 week off. So, he's home for just less than 1 week a month (approx. 7 days -2 for travel).

I miss him horribly when he's gone but the kids miss him more - which causes quite a bit of melt-downs (which of course makes me miss him that much more. lol).

Abby, at least you are making concrete plans ( financial and otherwise) for your future. You are to be applauded for not collapsing into a heap of tears like many women do. I admire your strength.

Sorry about your pets. I'm sure you'll be able to find a good home for them.

Hopefully you'll both make a good chunk from the house and be able to start fresh.

Oh, that's a lot - is it going to go on indefinitely?

I know his first day or two back must be crazy - I know when my husband would come back, I might as well have been invisible, Milan just stuck himself onto his dad!

Thankfully it's not usually like this. We both agree we dont have a long distance marriage. He's been doing this rotation for 5 months now, because it's crazy good money and since we just bought a new house, we really needed the $$$.

We're hoping this is the last rotation and he'll be able to get work here. *fingers crossed*
