Good morning!!
I didn't get my marshmallows done yesterday, so today's the day. They're for the 1-year old's b'day on Saturday so I have to get them done early, as they have to stay in the pan overnight. Then I have to compile a grocery list for the 'stuff' I have to make for the party...this sure is keeping our DD and Hubby, his parents and us busy! We're up to 20 guests, mostly family who haven't met little "Georgia" yet. :)
Have a great day everyone!

Finished my pink marshmallows and waiting for either Hubby to show up after golf, so that I can hop into the shower...I've been waiting for a delivery from FedEx and you just know that if I was showering, THAT would be the time they show up!
Where on earth is Walkonby the past few days??? Is she hiding out somewhere? I hope everything's okay......

...it's not an arduous task, @22hicks , but I sure do have a knack of getting marshmallow fluff over most of my kitchen and myself! Sticky stuff everywhere. Wiped down what couldn't go into the dishwasher, left to soak anything else that could be moved. The toughest part is waiting until tomorrow to cut into them!:P Naturally the very edge must be sampled for scientific analysis of flavour before it's fit for presentation to the birthday guests...!
If we were to try looking at life through rosé coloured glasses, I wonder if we will see more clearly.

Oh!Oh! Pick me!! I can answer that!

Ok. Now this is getting serious! WHERE is Walks?!! I'm starting to get worried....

good morning everyone :hello:
maybe she's gone for a walk...(http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...oansmileyf.gif...Yes, I said it!)
Good morning, everyone!!
Well I was up early!! Jenny woke up at 7:30, sat up, laid back down and kicked me, so I thought she had to get up, so I washed up and when I went back in, she had crawled under all the covers on my side of the bed! SHE didn't want to get up, she wanted ME out of bed so she could have the warm spot!!! She's still sleeping!
I want to get her up shortly so that I can turn out the marshmallows and cut them up without interruption. Brat.
I hope everyone has an absolutely wonderful day!!

Well, I am back from the Prosthetic Clinic. What I have is a temporary fix that will hopefully help me to get around better. I am not walking very well & it's hard getting around on a leg that is not fitting in a safe, practical & comfortable way. It will be back to the old drawing board & getting a new prosthesis. I need to go with a secure system & one that will serve me well. It has been a long time since my life has been normal & regular. I'm having coping problems big time.
Hugs to you, Loocie! Can't even imagine the challenges you face in a day!
Good news from DH's oncologist today - his tumour blood markers haven't changed and are still down. So, no more chemo for another 2 months then he will have another CT scan in October.
Today after a crazy 24 hours of e-mails, we drove to Windsor to adopt OUR NEW DOG! YAY!
But - she is an almost 3 year old female mini-schnauzer! She is coming to us from a South Korean Family who have to return to South Korea and can't take her. BUT - she speaks Korean - nobody speaks English very well except a grand-daughter who is studying in the US who has been trying to 3-way translate. AND she is NOT SPAYED and has recently gone through heat.
That would the dog is not spayed - not the grand-daughter- grammar- sentence construction- sorry Nat and Lynn- I know it drives you crazy!
We will get her spayed but I think she might be still in heat and I have NO IDEA how to handle this, except to keep her away from the dog park!
She is only 9 lb. and is a real cutie. She is picking up our commands pretty quickly. We'll see how the night goes. She apparently is used to sleeping in her own "bed." We have a crate and may try her in there, but there is NO WAY ON EARTH that she could jump up on our bed - she has tiny legs!
My husband went to the store and she wanted to spend the whole time lying at the front door. I am taking her out every 2 - 2.5 hours and that has been working well. When I tell her not to bark, she listens. I am trying to have her "heel" which seems to be a new idea to her. They let us know as we went along that she is a bit "naughty" and has some separation issues.
I feel like my friend who swore after she had been divorced that she would never marry a man who had any children and then fell in love and married a man who had 5!
No way were we going to get a dog with issues - but - here she is - and she's a cutie!
Her Korean name is Gunggong which apparently means, "Bundle of Love."
We've called her Sadie. We tried "Heidi" for half the ride home but she just didn't look like a "Heidi" to me, so she is "Sadie." "Sadie-Mae" I think.
I'm so excited to have a new little furry friend!
You can quote me on that later!
I'll say good night. - Lynn - I can't imagine making marshmellows! You are something else, woman! Toasting raisin bread is "gourmet" in my book!
Sadie is sitting on her pillow being good while my DH eats his supper. She did the same for me when I ate a little earlier.
DB and his family are at the Blue Jays game. We are watching it off and on. I more "off" - DH more "on." I'm keeping my eye on Sadie to make sure she STAYS being a good girl!
Thanks for any suggestions!
Oh, @avoncallingu , how wonderful...a 'new' baby girl!!! Oh, you're going to love having a little girl this time...they're so sweet you just want to spoil them all the time. Not that we spoil Jenny. I mean...you've met her...does she look spoiled??! Nevermind. Don't answer that. :embarassed: I have no experience with pups in heat although I do know they make doggie diapers in case that's a problem, sometimes it's not. Oh, she'll learn English fast enough, you've got yourself a smart little doggie there. Of course, we expect a photo soon. It's strange they didn't give you her bed...but if she's adopted a pillow, then that's great. Actually I've made covers for a couple of old bed pillows for Jenny that I can take off and wash and she prefers them to the two beds she has here! Good luck with your new little blessing...she's a pretty lucky pooch to have found you!!!
DD just called, she's got her 4 cakes made for her Barbie cake for the 1 yr old...lol...not that a 1 yr old cares, but she's having fun doing girlie things for the party, as am I, with the pink marshmallows...:) It's such fun never having to grow up or grow old... So far, so good.
Time to poke around on here for a while before bed...you all have a lovely evening, GO JAYS, and sweet dreams!

Morning everyone. Glad the weekend is here.
Good morning everyone.Attachment 318218
good morning !! Reading back a few posts, @SillyLoocie so sorry you are dealing with an improperly fitting prosthetic, hope they can make a much more comfortable one for you. @avoncallingu , your post had me chuckling away, congrats on the adoption of sweet Sadie and wonderful news about your DH!!. @Lynn49 the Barbie cake and those pink marshmallows sound just about right for a 1 year old who won't know the difference....kidding! I know when you have boys, it is SUCH a treat to make the girlie things, so kudos to your DD for doing this for her friend. Dang the Blue Jays losing last night, did they not get my psychic message to pummel Trout and the rest of his Angels? At least we are still first in the ALE...tonight they will need to play better against the Twins.
I'll be out and about very soon, so have a lovely weekend all!
Today is National Dog Day, so your dog should be pampered & cuddled,
Even if your dog sometimes does things that leave you feeling befuddled,
I have a dog who is 11 years old & is lab-shepherd cross,
She likes to remind the squirrels that she is in fact the boss,
Still likes to dig, play stick, fetch balls & go for runs in the field,
When it comes to milk bones or other treats, she chomps down an impressive yield,
High on the dogs who shed too much hair chart, she is a bit of a sucky old girl,
Does not like thunder or fireworks as those sounds send her into a whirl,
She is slowing down in her twilight years & her muzzle is quite grey,
But not matter how you slice it, she makes a loyal old compadre,
I guess when it comes to dogs, she is predictably status quo,
She won’t win any skills contests or rank in the “Best in Show”,
You find her flopped in the hallway & we all have step around,
What a dog that Maggie is, we love her pound for pound.

Club Chat is a pretty good place, thanks for everything people. I will get through this.
Good morning!!
Things to do, people to see, so I'm on the run today, just stopped by to say, "Happy Friday!", everyone!!
@SillyLoocie : Maggie looks so regal and elegant, bless her sweet heart.
National Dog Day is every day around here, it seems, and Jenny kicked me out of bed again this morning. Which, really, is okay since I have lots to do today and tomorrow for the kids' little niece; I can't wait to see how our DD's Barbie cake turned out later today!! Enjoy your weekend!
Since it's National Dog Day:http://media.santabanta.com/joke/visuals/15421.jpg
Debating which lottery ticket to buy - Sick Kids or Princess Margaret...hmmmmm....has anyone had any luck with either lottery?
^ A nice old baba from southern SK just won the biggest lotto win in our province's history - 60 million!

It's just so crazy how fast these weeks fly by, it's nuts that it's already Friday!
Hope everyone has a nice evening - I'm going to try get some stuff done before my husband comes home - and while the cats are sleeping!
Hello folks!
We have arranged to have our little girlie spayed on Sept. 9, which amazingly is only 2 weeks from today! Where has the month of August gone??
She seems to have some allergies so I've made an appointment to get her "itches" and head-shaking checked out. I bought some benadryl and gave her a very small dose. (I checked with the vet first.) I also bought her some soft anti-allergy food to entice her to eat as she didn't want to touch the "Kibbles and Bits" that her former family had sent with her.
She was "ideal" during the night last night - and tonight she put herself to bed. Sorry about constant doggie-updates but I'm so thrilled to have her!
I have to catch up on some wedding-oriented stuff tomorrow. I have paperwork to do.
I put together my dh's rotating CD shelf today that we ordered from Walmart. So he's happy he can get his 6 million CD collection organized....... well, maybe not SIX million!(We gave away almost 100 at our Garage Sale - NO ONE wanted CDs! Apparently NO ONE buys CDs anymore so we couldn't find any CD storage towers in stores - we had to shop online!
Well, I should get myself to bed as doggies must be walked in the morning, don'cha know!
Take care everyone!
(My aunt reminded me today that it would have been my dad's birthday today - I just haven't been keeping track of dates! He would have been 89 today! I have been dreaming about him lately, along with my mum. - It will be their anniversary on Tuesday. - My dad actually had to have his parent's written ok for him to get married as he had just turned 18.)
Good night
avon, your dad was born a year after my mom.
Wow, so young for him to have gotten married - how old was your mom? My mom was 19, my dad 25. They married in 1945.
