My daughter loves Disney! Sparkly Snowflakes or stars are awesome to me!

Julie as your Daughters teacher if she can use an exercise ball small size for her to sit on while working in class. i saw on tv once what a difference it made in the child's progress. when they are sitting stilll its their hands that fidget when their body is in somewhat motion they think easier and can concentrate. kinda like when we twist our hair, tap our feet etc.
A speech and language assessment. man your making me think. that was 12 years ago we had that. i'd have to look it up unless someone else can help. oh and get her eyes/ ears checked that can also be a big contributer to her behaviour. cross off as many t's as you can sorta speak.

Her optic nerves are very large. They are watching to make sure nothing stars growing there! We have MRIs every 4-6 months. Dec is our 28th MRI. Her ears.. everything is too loud for her!

I will have to look into the exercise ball! She will where headphones sometimes if they are available if things are loud.. but they are suppose to be with the computers so they aren't always available for her to use!

Thanks so much! We just have a family doctor not a paediatrician.. And I am going next week to the doc (been waiting 2.5 wks) to get the surveys/checklists. The teacher just told me about them. I thought the teachers would have those surveys for themselves! I just hope this doctor I am seeing will know where the papers are! I needed medication covered by the government again (yearly thing) and the doctor that is covering for mine had no idea what i was talking about!

The teacher mentioned there will be a team meeting and last year I did meetings with the school and nothing really was done!

What is the Speech & Language assessment? I have never heard of that?

We had an occupational therapist at the school for her.. she came in twice to sit in the class, gave my daughter a fidget seat (for sensory kids) and said that my daughter was doing everything on purpose and that there was nothing she could do for my DD!

I am trying to get her evaluated.. I did a big vent in the parenting section hoping for more ideas! My doctor is on Maternity leave and its hard to get into the doctor covering for her.. I have an appt next week and I am going to get the checklists for ADHD etc. And I really hope once they get back to the doctor we can be referred to someone that can help! My daughter just has so many medical issues that are causing everything to be more of a problem... 5 brain tumors, sensory integration dysfunction (her hearing is magnified and she is very loud), OCD, impulse control problems, possible ADHD (I have done the parent checklists for ADHD and she definitely is in the range) How long has it taken for you to get a referral or appointment??

Julie or Shawlightning.. if either of you need any info at all regarding the medical info about your kids. ie diagnoses etc. or anything with school. let me know. i have a ><wee but of experience.

thanks mrs.sunshine!!! i have yet to hear about an appt for the referral. i will pm you a bit later but quite honestly i am kinda leaning towards high functioning asperger's. i used to work for child social services doing child development and respite and was also a foster parent.

I am really sorry I posted this on the board! This is suppose to be Christmas and happy! My DD had just gotten emotional before bed as I was posting something and feel helpless!!

I'm a Spec Ed teacher, and we're spread very thin. Cutbacks at the higher levels (ministry, and board) means less Spec. Ed teachers to meet ever growing student needs.

If she requires accommodations (more time to complete tasks, breaks between lessons, etc) or modifications (in the curriculum) to meet her behaviour, academic, or physical needs, then you can talk with her educators about starting an IEP (Individual Education Plan).

If she is already on an IEP, then go over it at her team meeting with her teacher, and raise any concerns that you may have.

I love unique ornaments. Hallmark makes some really nice ones that are different every year. They actually have "2012" or whatever year it is written on the bottom as they are created uniquely and differently each year. Last year there was some really cute fisher price ones that I loved but I couldn't because they were fairly pricey.

Thanks everyone for all of the great wishes and messages! Alexa Marie was born last night at a whopping 8 lbs 15 oz. we're not sure where she got her huge ass weight from since neither of us were even close to that, and I only gained 12 lbs the whole pregnancy! Insane, but apparently I'm all about breeding heffers! The nurses and doctors all had a huge shock and nobody won the bet they'd placed on her size lol. She had a very rough start to life (think blue and grey) But is now doing a lot better. She's still in NICU but doing way better. There's a good chance I'll actually get to have her in my room with me tomorrow which would be nice! She'll still be in the hospital for a little while though. Friggin' diva already!

This is disgusting and I don't buy it. How the hell does she get it to latch?!? Like human babies don't latch properly without a lot of work most times...how the f?!?

Just made a HUGE batch of hamburger parmesan cassarole. A double batch for the oven and two into the freezer. Does anyone else batch cook?? Favorite recipes if so?

Is it easy? This was one thing on my wish list (batch recipes or slow cooker recipes etc that use real ingredients). I have a Company's Coming slow cooker recipe book that has lots of recipes with just a few ingredients/steps in each, and it would be great, but I don't really like to use a lot of prepared seasonings/sauces etc. I'd rather put the actual ingredients in myself. Example - when a recipe calls for 'rib sauce'...I don't keep that on hand. But I usually would have most of the ingredients that would make that sauce. Any recipe suggestions?

I do some batch cooking, but have a small freezer so not as much as I'd like to. I've done burritos for lunches, and meatloaf, always have that in the freezer lol, along with just browned ground beef that I can then turn into other things, saves time when I make lazy cabbage rolls in the crock pot or lazy lasagna (yeah I'm a lazy cook lol). I got a freezer cooking cook book and love some of the tips in it. But I really like my crock pot book, it gives a recipe for basic chicken then 4 or 5 recipes for what to do with the leftovers... does that for pork, beef, chicken... so it's great! Though right now my son is having frozen peas for supper... still frozen btw...

Whats the freezer recipe cook book called? I'd love to check it out?

Lazy Cabbage Rolls
In the crockpot mix 1 lb browned ground beef (I've used turkey too)
a can of tomatoes (diced, pureed or sauce if that's what you have)
about 1/2 cup uncooked rice
2 or 3 cups of cabbage shredded (when really lazy I use a package of coleslaw since it's already shredded)
salt & pepper
Cook on low for 8 hours or so (rice should be cooked)
Voila!

I do similar for lazy lasagna, just throw noodles, sauce, meat & some cottage cheese, spinach, into the crock pot and cook until it's done.

i wouldn't worry about posting it on here!! just look at the support and ideas that you have gotten from people who have been there, work in the area and such. sometimes we need that support and the ideas to help get us thru.
