We had a "pumpkin carving" silent auction at church today - the kids did the pumpkins - in a Christian Theme - which I thought was kind of a funny combination - but I wound up buying 2 - one a very clever "Noah's Ark" and another "burning bush". The noah's ark had carved the whole top of the pumpkin off except for a "handle" so that it looked like a basket and then the little girl (5 years old) had glued tiny plastic animals - 2 by 2 onto a piece of wood - like a gangplank. It was very clever. Others said, "Shine" and we had a couple of crosses and a picture of a church with a cross in the middle of the cavity. Lots of imagination which made the whole thing work! The funds raised went for funding wells in towns in Africa and also to a local Habitat for Humanity.
