Hi Everyone,
Well right now I am just so mad I could snap (Well actually I did!) Today at work I had my lunch out to eat. (I usually eat at my desk) Anyways one of my coworkers comes by and see's I have an apple on my desk. Now this person has been sick for the past few days and every time I see this person they are covering their mouth with their hands and sneezing in them. Now what does this person do? They pick up the apple on my desk and start explaining how wowed they are about my apple being so big...EXCUSE ME YOU ARE SICK AND NOW YOU HAVE TOUCHED MY FOOD! I was so disgusted and I didn't want to take the chance either so I threw it out!
I gave this person crap and told this person they should be more considerate of people and first off it is RUDE to touch food that is not yours! This person may have 100's of sick days left but I don't and need to work everyday! Plus I have DH at home and he doesn't need to get sick either!
Like come on!

I know!!! Like I looked at my coworker like "Are you kidding me?" Don't worry I have a plan, the next time I see them with food, I am going to pretend to sneez in my hand and than pick up their sandwhich and say "WOW what a big sandwhich" and see how they like it! They apologized but still, like people need to think more.
I hate wasting food, but, seriously! I don't need to get sick.Last edited by saveadollardiva; Thu, Nov 1st, 2012 at 01:53 PM.

Some people are really unaware; why anyone would cough into their hands is beyond me. Good on you for telling him off.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but not eating the apple isn't going to prevent the cold/flu. Now that the germs have been put into the air, merely breathing the air in you'll be in a position to get sick. Coughing in your hands is just gross, but coughing in any manner will cause the cold to be passed around. This is just really gross. It wouldn't matter if the person was sick or not, they should keep the hands to themselves. Just make sure to wash your hands plenty with lot's of soapy water, and hopefully the cold will pass you by.

I had a co-worker walk by my desk and reach in to my grilled chicken caesar salad I had just bought with her fingers to "sample" a piece of lettuce and chicken. WTF. I was so stunned she'd done that I didn't know what to say.

I don't blame you for being upset. If I saw a piece of food that looked inteteresting I wouldn't pick it up. Maybe I would make a comment that it looks yummy or interesting. But to actually physical touch is a no no in my books. If someone wanted to try a piece I would break it off for them.

I was taught to cough into my hands when I was a kid in school. I never saw the point because then we had to go wash our hands and the bathroom was a 5 minute walk away. By the time you got back, you had to cough and repeat, all day! Maybe they were taught by the same teachers I had.

@ EricsMom-responses to food invasive colleagues:
-"you just committed theft"
-"that sample just cost you $.... Pay up as you put your hands in this food."
-fork defense at the trespassing digits...
-"I did not give you permission to eat my food." Followed by silence and glare....2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice, but because you are.
