Thread: Customer lied to me in line

I find it very hard to believe she was being honest. Since joining this site I realized very quickly everyone is on top of deals/flyers/coupons. If no one on here knows where she got these flyers/deals legitimately...she scammed them.

And this is why none of my stores will allow printed flyers.
With that being said my WM will price match any store in Ontario. So if a local mom and pop store 3 hour drive away has a flyer my local WM will price match it. Of course how I would get ahold of that flyer is beyond me. Half the time I can't even get local store flyers such as GT, Loblaws, FB, etc.
I think this person was most certainly doing something wrong because generally if someone shows interest in my flyer when I am using it I will give it to them afterwards for them to use as well. I say generally because I might need it again for something they didn't have in stock. But most of the time no one even says anything anyways so I just end up tossing them at the WM entrance/exit on my way out.Insert Clever Signature Here

Its easy to print the flyers and photoshop them with the wrong cheaper price.
She was probably doing that , hence I think stores shouldn't accept printed flyers for a PM, unless they can go to that website themselves and verify the price.
If the price is 1.88 or 2.88 , you can easily remove the 1 or 2 and make it look like .88 if you print the flyer at home..she was probably pulling of a scam like that , hence didn't want you to look at the flyers carefully

It was totally not right for her to scam the store like she did, but you also have to take some responsibility for the incident too. In all the years I worked as a cashier, I never let the customer just have the benefit of the doubt. It was up to me to check that flyers were legit and that coupons were entered correctly. When in doubt, have a supervisor check them out - it was always important for me to cover my butt, didn't really care if it offended the customer. If it was a legit procedure or coupon, they have nothing to fear.
Those Zantac coupons are only one per customer...I would not have let her get away with that one. And if she wasn't willing to get you get a good look at the flyers, then you should have refused the price match. Yes, there are times when the deals are really good, but for the most part, they are reasonable...no company is going to sell a lot of their stuff at a loss unless they are doing it as a door-crasher...and then, quantities are limited and some companies refuse to PM when that is the case.

Are you freaking kidding?? I don't mean to sound naive, but OMG, people DO that??
My brain hurts. No one else seems to be surprised by the statement, so I guess I'm really as big a technology-moron as I secretly believe I am.
No wonder couponers are regarded with suspicion, if deception like that is wide-spread. At that point, you might as well just be shoplifting, as far as I'm concerned, if you photoshop stuff. PMing, overage, all that kind of stuff is fine and legit as long as the store allows it...but OMG. I am shocked.
