Hello, so let me start off by saying it was my frist time couponing but I was prepared. I had my coupon guidelines for walmart as well all my coupons together. I was going to get some ziploc 1.48 with the buy 2 save 4. Now after she put in all the coupons she said that's now right it can't be negative. I had said the company still reimburses you for the ful amount regardless. Then she proceded to call the manager.
The manager said walmart does in no way do overages. As well a coupon can not be used on a product that is cheaper at their store than other store or on sale items. Which does not even make sense. After her reading the coupon over 10 times she said you can't use them here.
Afer fourty minutes of arguing I sai fine keep your product. I also had some nexxus coupons for 3 dollars off and the little bottle was 2. I was going to use the overages for other things like bread and cereal. Needless to say I walked out furious..
This is at the one at keele and wilson in north york Toronto.
What should I do now? Where can I go to clear this couponing issue up?
I took the managers name down but I still want to be able to use this amazing ziploc and nexxus deal.
?? Help

this same thing happened to me at zellers a week ago, worst case scenario.. i read somewhere that you need to tell the cashier that they can adjust the amount of the coupon so thats exactly what i did when i went back.. and what do you know! they said Yes. I am sorry about what happened to you.
I wish you luck on your next trip!

What should I do? Try a different walmart? Or is there a way to fix it so that the walmart closest to me will accept my coupons? and yes I had the manufactor coupons.

Yes email the head Ofiice ASAP telling them about the way this manager treated you ..you were right & the manager was wrong . The store has to follow its own policy ..the manager can't go around making his/her own rules .
Also next time you shop there ..take a printout of the NEW WM cpn policy with you ..so if there are any disputes you can show them their own policy .
You can also lodge a complaint with the retail council ( as its false advertsing ) for the company to advertise one thing & do the total opposite ..if the WM head office does nothing .
Why is it OK for WM to keep the overage for themselves but not the customer ? They don't write the lower price on the cpn ( if they reduce its value ) & get reimbursed for the full amount from the MFR for $ OFF cpns ..imagine how many millions WM must be making from this overage which they keep for themselves .
Only certain cpns ( very few ) have a blank space where the retailer can actually write the actual price of the product otherwise they always redeem the cpn for the full face value from the MFR even though they reduce the cpn value for the customer ..they ( WM ) basically pocket the overage for themselves
..but make a big deal when the cutomer tries to do the same

I'm sorry that this happened to you to. I filed 2 complaints with HO about my local walmart regarding this exact situation. After several discussions with upper management today I was instructed to carry the phone # and call them directly from the store where it will be clarified immediately with the cashier/store manager. I plan to keep the phone # close at hand for my next visit to the unfriendly store I've had an issue with. (I really want to go tomorrow, but I'll give them a week to get it straighten out ... no need to add more fuel to the fire)

"As well a coupon can not be used on a product that is cheaper at their store than other store"
Friggin what?! What does their price have to do with somebody else's? Would they like you to go use your coupon elsewhere and NOT buy from them?! I'd be so furious.
Email head office, that's so stupid.

Yeah. I just called Walmart customer service. Filed a report. Lady said I was right and the cashier was wrong. BOOOYA. Now I hope they figure this out with the store that is closest to me so I can do my shopping trip as planned. Had last night to sleep on this experience and figure out what I wanted to say.

I knew I was right. Thank you SC'ers for helping me stand up for myself at times when stores don't know their own policy's.“Get a bicycle. You will not regret it, if you live”. Mark Twain.

How frustrating that we have to go through this. I've seen one SCer has 'I'm a couponer not a criminal' on their signature (can't remember who!) and it's so true. We are not trying to get something that the store policy has not allowed for. I can understand if couponers are trying to pass expired coupons, coupons not for the right product/size etc, but it's just crazy to have problems with legitimate transactions. And honestly, the stores get their money back, I do not understand why they would EVER question it?
