I ordered this then got an email a few hours lately that said they were giving back my points because they didn't have enough. This has happened to me a few times now; I find it very irritating. Don't they know how many they have and remove it when they run out?

I vote, always. I think in part, it's because I grew up in Ottawa and was exposed to it for most of my life. I think it's because I want some input. I may not like the outcome, but if I dont vote, then I have no right to complain about decisions made by elected leaders (even if made by people I didnt vote for)

We have a hard system sometimes for people to follow. We don't actually vote for the Prime Minister. We vote for people locally and based on how many get in, a leader is picked. This can be problematic since I will often really like the local candidate but not the leader of the candidates party. But in the end, I vote locally. I vote for the person in my riding who can best represent me and my riding. I wont ever end up voting for someone who's party has all policies I disagree with because the candidate I support wouldn't support those polices.

We have 4 years until the next Federal election and however many depending on where you are for the next Provincial ones. For those who dont normally vote, I'd love it if you could, this time, get to find out about who is running locally in your riding. What they stand for as individuals and where it fits in with their party. Don't worry about who their party leader is, look more local to you. If you do that, and put an honest effort into doing it, and still can't find someone to support then so be it. But at least you will have tried. Your voice may be only one, but it still counts.

40% of the those who voted supported conservatives. 61% of eligbile voters, voted. This means only 24.4% of eligible voters, voted for the conservatives. Things could have been very different if even some of the other 39% voted.

I agree with everything you wrote except "if I dont vote, then I have no right to complain about decisions made by elected leaders" In a democratic society you always have that right . There are many reasons someone may not vote although i do agree everyone should vote when possible OTOH if someone is uninformed or uncaring or ignorant then they should leave the voting to those of us who care enough to research the issues and make informed choices. Sadly even then you still have clowns to the left and jokers to the right not much choice on election day

TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE

I have voted many times and I have not voted many times.
AND I have spoiled my vote a few times.
Whenever I have spoiled a vote I felt it was saying something. Not that I didn't know who or what to vote for BUT that the issues were so blurred that although I felt compelled to vote I also wanted to say, "I am voting but no one has my confidence." If someone thinks that is wrong, that's OK with me because each of us has our own moral compass and it would be a dull country to live in if we all followed the same thoughts.
I just wonder if 10% of the country who didn't vote (because they felt there was no good options to vote for) had voted and spoiled their vote, what that would have said to the representatives that had been voted in??? Just think about it.

Honestly ? The chances are slim a quote from the article i linked "even though the chances of getting caught are effectively nil.Nil, that is, unless the spoiler wants to make a show of the protest -- by eating the ballot, for example. Members of the Edible Ballot Society tried that method in the 2000 election but the trend faded after a number of prosecutions. So chances of getting caught are poor still a crime though and really if you are not going to vote why spoil the ballot ? When it comes right down to it there are a lot of crimes that are easy to do and hard to get caught doing do we do them though ? No that is what seperates us from the criminal element in society .

Yes, I agree, unless a person physically does something to their ballot, no one would know if you spoiled by marking or not marking up the inside. Sometimes though I really do wish I could mark "only choice is between rock and hard place" in otherword, blah on all of the candidates or parties.
I'll vote but Im not always given the opportunity to tell the politicans what I really think of their party, leaders or politics ! lol

I'd love a "debate on crime" but that's a whole another thread ! Like getting the intellects going !
