I recently read, "And the Mountains Echoed." I thought it was OK, it jumped around a LOT and it took a bit before you realized who you were reading about now.
Under the Dome, at my DH's suggestion, was a good read.
"The Beginner's Goodbye" was kind of good.
Last book I read was, "The Ocean at the End of the Lane." I enjoyed that one, finished it quickly.

Day of Tears - 10/10 Great historical fiction for youth about a mass slave selling
The Knife of Never Letting Go (Ness) - 4/10 Ended on a cliff hanger, won't be buying the sequel (I think the author was trying to create a metaphor for mass amounts of information we share via the web and social media in a fantasy world and failed miserably).
The Fault in Our Stars (Green) - 7/10 Enjoyed it, finished it quickly, but very Nicholas Sparks-like and didn't live up to the hype for me
A Casual Vacancy (Rowling) - having a hard time getting into it, hoping it will get better, but I keep choosing to watch episodes of Breaking Bad on Netflix instead."There are more important things--friendship and bravery...."

Just started, Doing Time in the Garden: Life Lessons Through Prison Horticulture by James Jiler. I think some colleges are using it as a criminology or sociology textbook. Interesting and inspiring.

Wow, love this thread. Some pretty great and interesting reads everyone has picked. I have a habit of reading 4 to 5 books at a time. I recently finished The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling) and A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin. I don't want to start A Dance With Dragons until the next book comes out because I don't want to finish it and then have to wait.
I'm currently reading:
The Iliad by Homer
Vodka by Boris Starling
The Pacific by Hugh Ambrose
The Black Echo by Michael Connelly. I'm only started reading his books on my mom's recommendation, so I'm starting from the beginning.
The Politics by Aristotle
The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. I'm pretty much always reading this book. It's my favourite book, so I usually end up reading it at least twice a year.

'and the mountains echo'd' was ok but not as good as 'the. Kiterunner'
i liked 'under the dome' kinda like an updated 'lord of the flies'. Interesting premise.
which augustyn book are you reading? 'Running so scissors'? When I heard they were making a movie of that one I wondered how in the world they would make it.
Just finished doctor sleep, the new Stephen king. A good but read but not nearly as scary as his other books.
Thanks for all the great book suggestions on this thread !Last edited by heartgirl99; Mon, Oct 21st, 2013 at 10:13 PM.

Most of the way through Coraline... I've seen the movie a few times, the book is just as good.. there is a character missing from the book that was in the movie though... Wyborne Lovat is not in the book.. interesting, usually they leave characters out of the movies
