Thread: Saved $200 on a cake

Priced out a car cake this week for my hubby's Graduation. $280 was the lowest quote I was given for a 20 person serving. OMG! No way! I've only ever baked regular shaped cakes and have never used fondont icing! I took on the challenge of making this cake on thursday with a bit of help from my 5 & 7 year old boys. It turned out much bigger and better than I even hoped for. I must say not bad for my first time! My hubby teared up when we gave it to him, I'm sure he will cry like a baby when we cut it.

Wowsers, that's awesome! It's very well done, and very cool! Plus, it must be absolutely huge to feed 20; wondering if you had to triple or quadruple a regular cake recipe?
WTG!

Wow, great job and a happy Hubby. That cake is so nice and i understand him for not wanting to cut it. Too nice to be eating. Well now if you dont have a job that can be your new job with your 2 little ones. Again, that is a great cake.....
