Life definitely has it's ups and downs. One day it's all sunshine and snowboarding in BC, the next day you're packing up all your things and moving with hardly any notice.
I was having a great weekend with some friends in the mountains. I come home and am very frustrated with the disaster I walk into:
Dishes all over the kitchen and living room, empty wine bottles, towels all over the bathroom floor (clean towels pulled out of the cupboard and thrown on the floor, wtf?)
I did not spend an hour cleaning the apartment before I went on my trip to come home to this disaster my roommate and his girlfriend constantly make. The worst part is, they deny ever making a mess. And when I called to ask what this was all about I was replied to with "you left the house in such a mess before you left so don't even.."
Well actually, I cleaned everything specifically so when I came home it was nice and clean. It was spotless!
I am so sick of being told that I am the one creating the mess, especially when the evidence shows that it is 100% you and your sloppy girlfriend who created it!
Our telephone conversation elevated and he wound up telling me to get out ASAP. Not one to like confrontation or stress I immediately called my boyfriend and my sister, who came equipped with her husband. Got all of my things packed between the two trucks and I was out of there! (P.S how awesome are they for coming and helping me, love them all so much!).
There was already a lot of tension built up, because my roommate lives in a fantasy land where I am his servant and he is God. He didn't like that I had begun sticking up for myself, so I had already made arrangements for a new home which I am moving into in two weeks.
So you would think my stress is over, finally free. But when you have anxiety it is never quite that easy. I missed two calls from Blocked numbers. Naturally, I am driving myself crazy thinking it's the police because who else would call me from a blocked number? Now my mind is thinking they are going to show up at my work and arrest me for who-knows-what! My ex-roommate is crazy, and he likes to get even with people. Although I have not done a single thing to him I am still nervous. Maybe I'm the crazy one? I just wish life didn't have so many ups and downs so close together. This is just the icing on the cake at the moment. Any advice on how to get through tough times? When it rains it pours...

OH and the worst thing is I just ordered a new license and two new credit cards as my wallet was stolen recently. And they're going to that address! I asked him if I could have them as soon as they arrive, but he's vindictive so I highly doubt he will make the effort. I am considering cutting my losses and just ordering new ones tomorrow. I don't like the idea of him having my ID and CC's though. *shiver*

I am looking at tomorrow as a new day. Or at least pretending like I will be able to.

head to the post office tomorrow morning and get a change of address filled out imediately (send everything to a family member locally i think you can pay for a 3 month redirection for a small fee)

if the police call you they will show up as RCMP or something official on your call display they tend not to use blocked numbers for official business i'd imagine it was more likely your roommate calling then the police..

just be happy your out of the bad situation.. and he'll realize.. that it wasn't you making the mess.. it was him... or the mystery fairies (like the ones that like to come to my house and make horrid messes)
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Sorry this has happened quicker than you would have liked.

However..you also need to make sure that you are finically iin the clear WRT all your bills at that address. If your former room-mate isn't the landlord/leasing company, then inform them you have moved out. Otherwise send a registered letter to him stating you are moving out as per his instructions and enclosing copies of your paid-up bills since I wouldn't put it past him to try and get extra money out of you for the rest of your lease term.

Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

I agree with Darth, make sure the landlord is aware that you have moved. I'm not sure though, why you would be worried about the police coming after you. If you were out of town that weekend, you have proof of that. Make sure you keep the proof just in case your ex-roommate tries to pull something. Unless you have cause to worry, there is no reason to be worried. I'm happy you're out of there, it's just to bad it took you this long to make that decision. I would have been out there after the first confrontation with someone who is that out of touch with reality.

Get your mail redirected. It'll cost a bit, but it's worth it.
And remember to always be polite. If anything bad does happen. It's always better to look like a rational person than a ranting swearing one.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

Police have called here from blocked numbers. We took my teenage brother in who was always getting into trouble, to try to help him. Whenever we got a Blocked call we knew it was either the Police, his worker from the CAS, or him calling from jail. Blocked numbers are never good news in our house. Glad you had family to help! I would say go get your mail redirected or at least put on hold so you can pick up at the post office. It usually takes a couple days to kick in, so you should do it as soon as possible!

Not true. The police ALWAYS call from a private/blocked number for official reasons...at least they do in Ontario. Having their caller ID show up on the phone would defeat the purpose, at least in some situations. Not sure about BC or other provinces.

I've never had anything to do with the police, so I could be way off base, but wouldn't they leave a message if they were trying to contact you? You have caller ID, so I imagine you have voicemail too. \What would be the point of constantly trying to contact you, and then not leaving a message? That being said, if you're this concerned about your ex-roommate trying to do you harm, you might want to go through the hassle of changing your number too.

I had an officer follow up on a lead and it came up as my local police station. Following a tip is certainly an official reason, so I don't believe we should say 'always' as it really does depend on the situation.

Get the men in your family to go have a friendly chat with him. Bullies rarely like to be confronted on their behavior, especially by those not easily intimidated. And put your mind to rest, anxiety builds alot of scenarios in the mind that are based on fear rather than reality (I know, I live with it constantly!!). You did great by moving out and you have a great support system.

It is true, they do not like to be confronted! Once my brother in law and boyfriend showed up my roommate had confined himself to his bedroom. My sister offered her hubby to go have a chat with him, but I rather get away from the drama of it all and just leave. Definitely feeling better about the situation now, a weight has been lifted And the ridiculous theories in my mind have stopped, for now

As a teacher, I always block my home number when I make phone calls to parents from home. Could even be somebody calling from a charity who is using their home phone number and wants to block it.
