I posted this but never got an answer so I'll post it here... not a big deal, just curious as to why it happened!

Thats what I'm probably gonna do. I understand your viewpoint and think its excellent. We've been discussing the idea of initial moderation on the first couple of posts and I reckon it'll be good to go in the next couple of days

Since I'm one of the most vociferous complainers against spam, ..I shall offer to be the newbie mod rather than burden the other mods with doing this.

I think that's a fantastic idea. You need more mods who are committed to fighting this trash that is showing up day and night! For some reason, the spam has snowballed into epic proportions recently. I don't remember it ever being this bad. I certainly appreciate your efforts Forum Expert, and I also completely understand the reasoning behind the 30 second posting restriction, but it doesn't work. I logged on today (or was it yesterday?) and I saw the same username throughout the entire site. The 30 second rule is not slowing them down, they just wait. The regular users are the ones who will be driven away and you'll be left with nothing but a forum full of overseas spammers. At least adjust the spam reporting time to 10 seconds from 40 please.

Couple of things placed on newly registered members might slow down spammers. I'll see how it goes before I implement more.

Okay, latest spam prevention method has been perfected and will go live later. Newly registered users will have their first five posts moderated, they will be in a slightly limited usergroup and there will be more protections on the registration process.

Will all go up later on today and should fingers crossed work well.

Sorry..the only time I mass pmed the mods was when I saw more than one mod posting and the thread I was concerned about was saying it had child and animal p0rn ..

It is not such a bad idea, to ban entire continents from visiting the website. Just a fantasy... I know a guy who did that, wish this trend would catch on... why does a guy from Bangladesh or Finland need to be here anyway.

No, not yet sorry. A relative of mine became ill last night and I had to head to the hospital. I'm still there now and I'm posting this off my phone. Definitely will be done by the end of the day. My apologies.
