The Retail Merchandising Handout (Folded) (bilingual) shows the cuts and their uses (roast, stew, etc.) and is free to order I highly recommend this! I keep it with my cookbooks. Order a spare as people always want to know where I got this and if I have an extra

There is one for pork here http://www.putporkonyourfork.com/foo...cut_chart.html I have the laminated poster version in my kitchen as well.

As well as getting lots of compliments from men when they see the posters of MEAT lol these have been an incredible time saver to explain to dh what I just bought and what it is good for. Roughly, back quarter of the animal is good for roasts, front quarter, stew, and middle 1/2, steaks and chops.

It is really helpful to have a visual because dh sometimes knows what he wants visually but cannot explain himself without the poster. This way he can just grunt and point lol

Anyway, if you want to know more about meat, I would start here with those freebies.
Thanks Mac1960 for all of the likes- makes me feel special. Lecale - that is really helpful a big THANK YOU. I will order those right away. It will be handy to have it in front of me.

When we lived in Ontario, we got orders from Canadian Select Farms (I think that's what it was called or maybe meats, not farms?). We picked exactly what we wanted and we got it shipped in 2 or 3 shipments (we'd call to get the next one). You could make monthly payments too. It was great cause we picked what we want, didn't have to get it all at once and could make payments.

I'd google Ontario Beef Farmers and see if there are any close to you and take it from there. That's how I found a farm in Alberta that I liked their practices, ect...
Thanks Insane. We have a local(ish) farmer who ethically raises, medicates and slaughters their cows. I met him @ our local farmer's market. The nice thing is that the farm is open anytime for customers to come and see the cows. So I have gotten that far...

I can imagine that logistic to the NWT is mind boggling for a lot of things... and costly.

    FRUGALITY VILLAGE:

So here's a thought since a few of us have now updated our trade & wishlist, how about we try and barter or trade amongst our group (here) if possible.

I know we all have coupons that we would rather trade than go to waste, I personally would rather some of my coupons find a new home and get something that I could use in return.

So how about we have a spot on here for looking fors:

Great idea!! I'm not sure that I have many rare coupons that people are really after tho... But I'm in either way. Even if people don't want my coupons it's a learning experience!!
