It is brutal here today
Bf left home just after 8 to drive to work in TO. Came home a half hr later the hwy was stopped, not sure if it was plows or an accident.
It worked out cause I had a dr appt and my mom lent me her car and it was in the driveway covered in almost an inch of ice. So he started the car and got all the ice off it and parked it in the garage. Then he left for work about after being home for over an hr and made it to work fine just took him an extra half hr.
It has warmed up and just pouring rain now but it is melting all the ice on the trees and roof. Ice keeps sliding off the roof. The dogs are losing it. Lily is hiding in the bedroom and Sid is at my feet. LOL Glad I'm home, they would be really upset if they were alone--or just be sleeping in my bed!!!

No advice for K8, Sorry, hope you are feeling better. I have only had a migraine a few times when I was a teenager, got my wisdom teeth out and have never had one since.

Well off now to check out the flyers and make my list for groceries this week.

Picked up another item for my buddy today--I am done but figured I will ship next week incase I see something that needs to go in the box over the weekend--like today! lol

Oh got a good deal on finish dishwasher detergent today. Big Lots grand opening today and had in flyer for $3 quantum or finish tabs 25ct. I price matched at walmart and used my $2 off coupons, got 3 boxes $1 each. Woohoo, was down to my last box so was good timing. Got some jet dry for $2 bucks too--only had a $1 off coupon

Glad you are taking advantage of it lol. I keep looking for a cat box, they have two in Canada for dogs but nothing for cats! So every once in awhile I search for Canada boxes and the fishing one popped up... I think it comes from the US but ships to Canada which many do not. Any way. If anyone learns of a cat one let me know! Yes I have a dog but he doesn't like many toys and has enough treats My cats on the other hand seem to eat their feathery toys so getting new things to try every month would be awesome! I'm not girly enough to want the beauty boxes though.

heh hijinx.. boy do I understand. when FIL was having issues it was decided they'd keep it their 'secret' well.. we knew something was going on.. neighbors that he's known for YEARS. who?? ya we knew... thing is he'd had a heart bypass a few years previous, a friend told me once that happens. thats it.. boy was she right. I really pray for your family that you all are able to find her the best care possible. i cant thank the nursing home enough, they made the last 3 months of his life.. well there are no words.

I agree with you 100%. The care received in a home makes all the difference in day-to-day and end of life. My paternal grandparents were placed in separate homes unfortunately, since my grandmother was falling (she was living with us) and had mobility issues and my grandfather had Alzheimer's since his early 60s but he deteriorated quickly and had to go to a home that specialized in dementia patients.

It's tough stuff.

Sorry to hear about your MIL! I work in a Personal Care home and have had the opportunity of working with a couple of residents that have had lewy body. it is certainly not easy to see this happening to a loved one. If they can get her on the right combination of the meds she should do well.

This is reassuring because the neurologist told my BIL who was the attending neurologist at the hospital when they had to bring her in the other day said that it's very difficult to manage people with medication. So far, (I don't know their names) the first set of drug therapy had no visible affect in reducing her tremors so they switched her to others, but those are thought to have induced her hallucinations (she is hearing voices and seeing people and didn't recognize my FIL. Thought he was trying to poison her with water).

We have a "family meeting" with her neurologist in a month's time. I hope to have a good set of questions ready to ask!

Any form of dementia is so hard to deal with. My grandfather went downhill after his last stroke, and ended up in the nursing home I was working in briefly. It was funny because he thought my mom was his wife, my sister my mom but he always knew who I was. He passed away in that nursing home and it was so hard to go in and meet the new person who moved into the room. I didn't work there long it was just too hard. Hats off to anyone in that line of work... I cannot do it and I dread any of that happening with my own parents.

Had an interesting morning. The weather is really crappy so I decided we'd play hooky from work/daycare. We walked over to McD to get some breakfast (and coffee) as I'm out of cream and right when we get there, the power went out!! The very nice manager gave Jackson a hashbrown and sausage patty, and me a coffee woot! Scary, turns out a bus smashed into a hydro pole there and knocked the power out in the whole mall, as well as the traffic lights near there. Luckily we still have power though we can see the place from my front door. Very glad I'm not driving out there though!

And my Neato came last night and is working on cleaning the floors I need to figure out how to move a few a things out of his way though because he keeps doing the same area lol, oh well, it'll be really clean I guess!

I agree - my grandfather had Alzheimers, he only met me when I was a child (under 6) since my grandparents were separated - but he would converse about me to me, but not know that child was now me, the adult.

This is the truly hard part for the family when it comes to Alzheimer's, my great grandfather on my mom's side had it and we are pretty sure my oma (my dad's mom) has it.

I was 15 when my great grandfather passed and leading up to his passing our family made the decision that myself and my brother would no longer visit him, he was in a home.

My oma is still at home and recognize some of us but others it does seem to depend. My Opa had the same thing happen sort of, Oma was looking for him even though he was right in front of her she did not recognize him. She keep looking outside and seeing his car but did not recognize him standing there. We have people who stay with her as she can no longer be home alone.

Your post has actually made me question what my Oma has she has Parkinsons and now they think she has Alzheimer's (as far as I know we have never gotten an official diagnosis for her) but I have never heard of LBD before and have not heard anyone in our family mention it.

I know you do not know me but if you have any questions personally (the stuff the docs can't/won's answer) about Alzheimer's feel free to PM.

THANK YOU. And if you have questions about Lewy Body, let me know. Apparently it's easily overlooked but there are telltale signs. Like not smiling. My MIL has not smiled in years. When my son was born and my nephew, she's holding the babies and not smiling, infact, you can see her cheeks sagging. Loss of facial muscle control is a sign. But at the time, we didn't know. The doctor tells us now that was an indicator.

Hijinx - where on the island is your mil? My mom worked in home care in the Duncan/Chemainus/ Ladysmith/Nanaimo area for 25 years. She may have some suggestions? If nothing else - Vancouver Island has no shortage of care homes!
I pray that she can be placed quickly and gets the care she needs.

My grama in in Casa Loma in Comox, she hates it - but then again she hates everything and everyone. I recently found out that she lied to us for years about my aunt and made her look like a total bee-otch, and of course I believed her, she is my Grama.... I spent the last 3 years not speaking to my aunt because of the lies that she told us, my aunt has been trying to reach out to me for ages and I finally figured I should 'try' for the sake of all things family. When I found out what had been going on I felt like total crap, so many things fell into place to make me realize I had been duped by grama. I am still confused somewhat and wonder who really is telling the truth but what do you do. Sometimes you have to suck it up and move on, life is too short. Being on the other side of the country doesn't help either, I haven't been home in 2 years. Anyways, that is my rant, I haven't really had anyone to tell this to, haven't even brought it up to hubby yet because I am sorting it out in my own head still.

I was hoping my box from Well would be here by now but appraently it wasn't even shipped til yesterday - kind of odd for them.

OMG! I have half a bookshelf full of paper books and countless on my ereader. One day I will have time. Hubby and I are having a discussion over ereader technology and thought I would post a question here to try to clear up some of the .... ummm... discussion.

im the same.. i can't resist a deal of book for 10/25cents at a sale. maybe once spring or summer finally gets here i can read a few. once i start one i usually can read it in like 2-3 days. heck i read the grey trilogy in a week. LOL.
