I dunno....I'm kinda iffy on the whole reading a book from a screen thing...i mean, i have terrible eye sight and I already stare at the computer screen enough, lol.

I also have tons of real books I haven't read yet lol...I looooove chapters though! I've had to stop myself from going there a couple times, I just end up spending money on books that will sit on a shelf for months..or years, heh.

My mom has bad eyesight and has to read books in large print, the nice thing about an eReader is you can adjust the font easily. And I got a plain one so it's dull, no glare like on a computer screen, more like reading a book.

Sounds like a great package! I'm still shopping lol. I should be mailing next Friday as I'll be off work to take kitten in for his little operation Tomorrow we go to Costco then Sunday to Shoppers so I'll be filling in the gaps lol.

Oh she does get whatever she wants, her favourite thing is Ribs, if you give her ribs she will eat more than teenage/early 20s boy. So my Opa when they are out always takes her for ribs, it is her little treat and if there are any left over they are brought home for her lunch. The way I see it at her age she should get whatever she wants and if she wants to just eat one thing so be it.

This is one of the big reason Opa hired someone to take care of her verses using the Province provided support, he got sick of people telling both of them what she was and was not allowed to do. The woman we have listens to Oma (well when she can as Oma get worse more and more she speaks only in german and forgets to switch over to English and her caregiver speaks broken English) and only pushes what has to be pushed if that makes sense.

I agree with you 100%. The care received in a home makes all the difference in day-to-day and end of life. My paternal grandparents were placed in separate homes unfortunately, since my grandmother was falling (she was living with us) and had mobility issues and my grandfather had Alzheimer's since his early 60s but he deteriorated quickly and had to go to a home that specialized in dementia patients.

It's tough stuff.



This is reassuring because the neurologist told my BIL who was the attending neurologist at the hospital when they had to bring her in the other day said that it's very difficult to manage people with medication. So far, (I don't know their names) the first set of drug therapy had no visible affect in reducing her tremors so they switched her to others, but those are thought to have induced her hallucinations (she is hearing voices and seeing people and didn't recognize my FIL. Thought he was trying to poison her with water).

We have a "family meeting" with her neurologist in a month's time. I hope to have a good set of questions ready to ask!



I agree - my grandfather had Alzheimers, he only met me when I was a child (under 6) since my grandparents were separated - but he would converse about me to me, but not know that child was now me, the adult.




THANK YOU. And if you have questions about Lewy Body, let me know. Apparently it's easily overlooked but there are telltale signs. Like not smiling. My MIL has not smiled in years. When my son was born and my nephew, she's holding the babies and not smiling, infact, you can see her cheeks sagging. Loss of facial muscle control is a sign. But at the time, we didn't know. The doctor tells us now that was an indicator.

- Sassy, so glad to hear your Oma is eating, thats one thing FIL flatly refused to at the hospital, maybe once a day, wouldn't believe what i did to try and get him to eat. once he hit the nursing home two month later he wasn't eating at all.. be grateful she's eating. one tip... let her eat anything she wants. i wanted to so badly but was told NO thats not good for his Diabetes. really? grr.

No, it's not just you, I've been getting that a lot lately. I just go out of the thread and back in and it eventually works...sometimes it takes a couple times though, LOL. SUPER annoying tho. Awesome package btw!! Love it!

Thanks!! He is the spitting image of me. My mother brought over some of my baby clothes a few montha ago. I dressed DS up in them and put a little pony tail in his hair, mom said it was like going back in time. LMAO.. poor boy.
